Hi everyone, I asked this a few years ago for a trip to New York that never happened (thanks, Covid) but it appears I will definitely be going in April. I’ve never been so I’m looking for some guidance, We have our standard tourist stuff to do but I’d appreciate some suggestions on: Good New York pizzeria pizza Good Jewish bagels (leaning toward Russ and Daughters) Which Midtown Comics location to visit, if any A really good, really Irish, Irish bar And a good local restaurant for nice non-seafood dinner with the wife that won’t bankrupt me

You can't ever go wrong by stopping by the Society of Illustrators...It's a great museum. If the Mets or Yankees are home, take in a game if you can, just for the experience. If you have the time, venture out to Long Island as well...

Sorry John I’m a KC Royals fan, I cannot in good conscience spend a dime with the Yankees ( they’re on the road anyway). The Mets are in town, but they’re playing the even more goddamned St. Louis Cardinals, so hard no there.
I’ll try that Illustration museum, time permitting

Russ and Daughters, absolutely and even more, Jim! My wife's grandfather used to have his button store next to it (back in the 80s), and we were all the time in Russ. It was fantastic then and now.
For an Irish pub, I would hit McSorley's and/or the 11th Street Bar.
Pizza? John's of Bleecker. It's not just hype. It's the real deal.

McSorley’s definitely. For puzza, I strongly (STRONGLY) recommend Brunetti’s down on Hudson Street. Amazing stuff. It’s pretty much right at the southern end of the High Line Park, and only a couple of blocks from the Whitney. It’s also just a couple of doors down from a Swiss wine bar with a vibe I dig a lot.

I just went! For the first time since I was 13!
Did things on your list!
Visited the Midtown Comics in Times Square--it was very well stocked.
Ate at a bunch of great places--enjoyed the Elgin after ice skating at Rockefeller Center. (Argh--those ice skates! My feet still hurt!) All the food my wife and I had was very good! (Even the two McDonalds I dragged her to were better than most here in California.)
It's amazing how many things are walkable from where we stayed in Times Square--Broadway, Radio City Music Hall, the Empire State Building, Central Park, Macy's, 30 Rock and St. Patrick's Cathedral, and more! (A lot of restaurants under and around 30 Rock!)

If you are going to the Midtown Comics in
Times Square, a good Italian restaurant nearby
is Tony Di Napoli. The portions are huge.
If you like French food and don't mind
venturing into Brooklyn, L'Antagoniste is a
great spot. It's in Bedford-Stuyvesant,
probably easier to take a car there.

Is there anything to see there on the order of visiting the original Marvel or
DC offices (or MAD magazine)? I know they’ve all become something else
now.

Weird coincidental digression anecdote about the Marvel offices. About twelve years ago, my wife and I were working with a clinic based at 635 Madison Avenue (the home of Silver Age Marvel). Even more, we were working with Dr. Copperman - no relation, same pronunciation.
