Long time coming... the writing has been on the wall since Marvel, DC, Image and others jumped ship.

This makes me sad. I shopped at Geppi's Comic World in Baltimore when I first started collecting comics. I bought Man of Steel #1 there.

Part of my conference call for the NNY Business Services Team made mention of (IIRC) a WARN notice effecting the Diamond workers in Plattsburgh. As always, with company restructuring, chapter 11s, shutdown... it's the little guy that gets hurt.

Chuck Rozanski has a long post on the Chapter 11 bankruptcy on the Mile High Comics Facebook page.

Many of the major publishers move to different distributors over concerns about Diamond's financial condition and late shipments to retail shops.

Bleeding Cool is reporting that IDW’s accountant has filed notice that IDW is unlikely to continue as a viable business in light of the Diamond bankruptcy protection.  There is a lengthy discussion there about who owes who money, and it is pretty complicated.  In bankruptcy protection, all creditors are fighting to see how many pennies on the dollar they can get for whatever they are owed.  Sounds like IDW will get the short end of the stick and be forced to close.

The Bleeding Cool article reprints the "Going Concern" issue note in the audit report at the bottom in white letters.

I teach undergraduate auditing at Western CT State University, and when the "Going Concern" issue rises to the surface, it's not good news for the company.

IDW's annual report for October 31, 2024, its fiscal year end is at this link:  https://www.otcmarkets.com/otcapi/company/financial-report/4 21042/content

""the accompanying financial statements have been prepared assuming that the Company will continue as a going concern. As discussed in Note 19 to the financial statements, the collectability of certain receivables sold by the Company's distributor are in question and the dollar amount of the receivable in question cannot be estimated at this time and has stated that substantial doubt exists about the Company's ability to continue as a going concern."
