A Cybertruck has exploded, most likely from planted explosives inside it.
The level of data that Musk is providing about that truck is incredible.
These things seem to be monitored to death, & driven by the people who
seem to shout loudest about freedoms & the dangers of over monitoring.

There seems to be real irony here.

It matters if its the government doing it, because you have no choice.

How much “choice” do we really have in life?

Personally, I think when it comes to monitoring, it’s getting less & less.
I do tend to laugh @ people complaining about government monitoring who
post every aspect of their lives on social media.
I get Steve’s point about having no choice if it is government, but all
aspects of life are removing that choice. & there seems to be fairly decent
anecdotal evidence that companies are abusing that knowledge to a greater
degree than governments are.

JB is right - there is illusion of choice, but as companies buy up other
companies, that choice is an illusion @ best.

Monitoring machines and how they behave I guess is different from monitoring people. And I get that some data in this case could be used to find out where people drove to etc, but I don't think this is what those shouting for over monitoring and freedoms lost shout for.

An aside: news is coming in that the driver/renter of the cybertruck was an active duty Green Beret. Considered with the fact that the New Orleans attacker was also (ex-) military and also rented the vehicle on the same app = who the fuck knows? Current word is that they’re unrelated events and beyond the coincidences (including date), I’m willing to accept that analysis and just remain increasingly concerned that a growing number of these events are coming from men who have served or are currently serving.

That Cybertruck explosion looked like there were fireworks going off also.
