Sad to hear. 😔

My Jimmy Carter moment:

Back in 1979, Baltimore had a few homes that had hot water tanks that were heated via solar panels. President Carter was in town to tout the technology.  As the motorcade was leaving town, we got to see him inside the limo waving as it drove by.

As special moment for my 13 y/o self.

R.I.P.

Incredibly saddened by this.  Totally underappreciated while President.

A great man who continued to serve this country even after his presidency ended.

Glad that Mr. Byrne immortalized him in one of the greatest comic book stories of all time.

Showed us that one person can make a difference, and that even if you don;t do great at something you should keep trying and be great at something else.

Enoch Powell once remarked that (slightly paraphrasing) "All political lives end in failure".

Is Jimmy Carter the only major political figure whose reputation grew after he left office, and while he still lived?

A great man, a great loss.
I only hope, in the wake of current circumstances, that he might inspire aspiring politicians in the lesson of character in leadership that he exemplified.

I’m glad I deleted Twitter, I can only imagine the horrid shit flying around that toxic dump regarding President Carter. I am glad, as others have said, that this funeral will take place under the auspices of a Biden, rather than the fickle will of trump.

Funny story: while Carter was in office, my dad won election the city council of my hometown, and his buddy was elected mayor. On election night, they got roaring drunk, and being good Democrats, they tried to call Jimmy Carter. They never got the President but they did get press secretary Jody Powell who congratulated them on their wins.
