How did so many fewer Americans vote this time?
We had "record voter registration" and "record turnout"... but millions FEWER votes?
Even Allan Lichtman is scratching his head.

Not all votes are counted yet. Isn’t California just at like 50% counted?

This set the stage for at least 12 years of GOP rule. Vance will be a shoo-in in 2028.

Waking up last Monday, the 6am news on my bathroom radio had 18% of Brits in support of Trump.

The last raw numbers I saw had Harris with 66M to Trump's 71M in the popular vote. In 2020, it was Biden 81M to Trump's 74M.
Trump lost about 3M votes, but Harris lost 15M. A nearly 5-to-1 loss margin, and almost a fifth of the previous numbers that voted for a ticket with her name on it from the last election.
If that disparity of numbers don't appreciably change after absentees and whatnot are counted, the Democrats need only look in the mirror when making excuses. Early voting. Mail-in voting. As many GOTV movements as any other previous election. With Trump making gains with women and minorities in his own vote breakdown, plus having almost as secure a popular vote lead as Biden had in 2020, you can only blame his voters so much before you have to ascertain why her voters didn't show up.
They didn't lose, they gave it away. 15 million people from 2020 gave it away.
I doubt that 15 million voters who wanted Biden/Harris alluvasudden became racist, misogynistic, homophobic, stopped caring about abortion rights, etc. So what. happened.

So the guy tries to STEAL an election on "Jan 6th" and his punishment is....
4 more years as POTUS?
What is happening in the US in the 21stC*? And can it please STOP?
*I keep wondering - is the success of this godawful man, a product of the times? Or would he have had the same success had he started earlier and challenged either of the two George Bushes for eg?

I hope everyone realizes she was a bad candidate, who won no primary votes on her own, had no answer when people asked her "Why didn't you fix things the last 4 years?" spent the year before Joe dropped out pretending he was "sharper than ever" and even in heavily edited interviews in friendly environs, she couldn't answer any question tougher than "do you like puppies?" with any coherence. They should have done an open convention and picked a real candidate with real ideas.
The machine went all out for her, she had the most favorable news coverage in history, combined with the most negative news coverage of her opponent in history. She accused Trump of everything in the book, and still he delivered more minority voters than any Republican candidate in history. Celebrities who are isolated from all of the economic problems that Biden/Harris caused, went all out for her on social media and it still wasn't enough to gaslight the nation into thinking Harris was a good candidate.
The Dems always accuse their opponent of the things they do themselves. In this case, no rational person should be cheerleading the spurious prosecutions of Trump by extremely biased prosecutors in heavily Dem cities. It's banana republic stuff to go after your opponent using the power of the state. It backfired with African American men who know something about unjust prosecution. Everyone one of those cases will end up being overturned on appeal. All of this changed the rules of the game. They've normalized weaponizing the DOJ against political opponents. That is bad.
Dem voters gaslight themselves: Their exit polls said that they thought the economy was going well, that inflation wasn't a big deal to them. That's nuts. Gas prices have tripled under Biden/Harris, groceries have doubled.
There are people who still act like debunked hoaxes are true. Even Snopes, who is run by two left wing people, debunked the "Very Fine People" hoax, but it Dems keep talking about it like it's real. The Liz Cheney thing recently was also debunked, but people talk about it like it's real. They hid Biden's cognitive decline for 2 years.
All this adds up to, she was a poor choice. Go back and watch her performance in the 2020 Dem primary debates. She was the least capable person on the stage in every one.

Well, to be fair, he didn't participate in any primary debates at all, got his clock cleaned in the only general debate that was held (she must have learned something since 2020), because he refused to participate in any others, and canceled on any interviews he feared wouldn't be favorable to him. So we were ill served on both sides in terms of current vetting.
Is it weaponizing to simply hold a defendant to the same standards that we hold the rest of citizenry? Trump's offenses were so brazen that it would have been legal malpractice not to pursue prosecution. In fact Garland was sharply criticized for being too cautious in his deliberation for fear of being perceived as partisan.
A little more perspective: three of the recent elections were largely reactions to near cataclysmic events that the incumbent had little control to manage or correct: Obama won in the midst of the financial crisis, Biden won at the onset of Covid, and now Trump won (this time) largely because of inflation/cost of living. Some of this is just the age old practice of blaming whomever is perceived as the incumbent for their problems, and voting them out is the only sense of action they feel they can take to rectify them.

Yeah, I call BS on "spurious prosecutions". He DID steal top secret classified documents, lied about it, had his attorneys lie about it and then obstructed justice at every turn. They gave him a year and a half to return them and treated him with kid gloves until it became apparent not everything had been returned.
There's also the little matter of the fake elector plot to try and steal the election.
I'm willing to bet Trumps first thoughts after the election was called weren't " I won" but 'I'm not going to jail".
Not too sure about Vance being a shoo in in 2028, I guess we'll have to see how the next 4 years go.

Gas prices have tripled under Biden/Harris ****** This isn’t true at all. Gas in my town today is $2.79/gallon. Are you trying to tell me it was $0.93/ gallon when Trump left office?

If you thought inflation was bad under Biden, wait till Trump's tariffs re-appear and he does his own round of fiscal spending, all the while cutting taxes so that the US Government goes further into debt. Presumably Congress will threaten a shutdown on him if it does... But I'm not holding my breath.
