I went to the ginormous local mall yesterday and can say that the idea that we're in a bad economy is 100% bullshit. I went in expecting it to be like a beach resort in winter - as it's been for years, long before the pandemic. Instead it was wall-to-wall shoppers, and - with the exception of a couple of the larger department store spaces - the fill rate seemed to be at over 95%. It's a random Sunday in November and it was packed like Black Friday.

I think the reason I was surprised is because I'd bought into some of that narrative, but it's a false or highly-skewed story at best. Unemployment is at 4%. Dow Jones is at roughly 42,000. Inflation is at 2.5%. Yes, some prices have remained higher but it hasn't impacted consumer spending much so the retail economy remains strong.

Inflation is low, but people are loudest who are hurting the most.

FWIW, that Iowa poll is very well vetted.

NY Times also admitted this weekend that they spike the most pro-Harris
polls in an over-abundance of caution about under-representing Trump like
they did the last 2 times.

The left wing NDP seemingly came out of nowhere to finish a strong second in Canada’s 2012 Federal election.  When pollsters were asked why they missed it, they said they actually saw strong NDP numbers in the week before the election, but discounted them because they were so different from the polling previous to that point.

Looking at the demographics of people who have submitted ballots so far in Pennsylvania, voters are overwhelmingly registered Democrats and mostly women.  That battleground at least should easily go Democrat.

Here's what I put on social today, as my way of summarizing the one-way argument I have in my head for those progressives who plan on not voting or casting a protest vote:

A single vote for Harris…

You honestly don’t understand how the Electoral College works?

I sure do. This message is very specifically targeted to progressive people I know in swing districts.

There's also the secondary concern of making sure the popular vote number stays up there. Yes, it has no legal bearing on the outcome, but it does make the historic and media argument that much more potent.

Edited to add: Note that I don't mean a LITERAL single vote.  I mean the power of the vote itself, and the responsibility we all have to show up for each other.

While I'm sure I won't regret going out on a limb with my prediction, it's infuriating that once again a presidential election and America’s future comes down the judgement of godforsaken pig-people in the hated swing states.

Looks like the GOP got the House and Senate... this is not good.  Side note, I was rooting for Texas to finally get rid of Ted Cruz but I guess a majority of Texas like freezing to death

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.

What is wrong with people?
It’s 01:28 & people are expecting Trump to speak soon.
He’s going to declare a win isn’t he.

Because he’s going to win, everything.
Bloodbath.
