I wonder how his Jewish grandchildren will feel about his "good people on both sides" position?

Reviewing videos from the NYTimes this morning shows that this failed assassination was itself a spectacular failure for the secret service and law enforcement. They had a photograph of the suspect, noted him as suspicious, on the ground in front of the building whereupon he did eventually position himself, and said pic was taken and circulated a full 20 minutes before the shooting, but somehow they lost track of him, and yet the rally was neither delayed or cancelled, just went on as usual. Oofah.

Following the BBC feed of the Republican convention which feels like a slow slide into an utterly-undeserved coronation for Trumf.

So - an idiot grifter and desperate convicted criminal is the best the Republicans can do ? And this guy will be a role model as President ?

Really ??

JB - "Biden doesn’t “run” the Secret Service."

It's part of his administration, and as the link showed, the head was hand picked by Jill Biden. Is she supposed to be a sleeper agent?

Casey Sager - "JB - I'm constantly amazed at how many Americans have no clue how the US government works and absolutely thinks the POTUS controlls everything from inflation, the price of gas etc."

Most informed ones know the Secret Service is part of the executive branch, under the authority of the Department of Homeland Security, headed by Biden appointee Alejandro Mayorkas.

David Allen Perrin - "The same “SS” (ahem) that deleted their texts after Jan 6?
We are talking about people who can make a conscious decision to be loyal WAY beyond what is required and play along in order to be part of something bigger."

I thought the Deep State was a paranoid fantasy? Biden's person has been in charge for four years and has been putting her own people in, trying to get 30% women. At least two were at the shooting.

Brian Miller -- "Funny how he didn’t need the bandage when he played golf the day after
the injury, but he did two days after at the convention."

He didn't play golf, that's been debunked.

Kevin Brown - "At the very least, there was a security breakdown, but I can easily see why some want to think there's a conspiracy.  It certainly doesn't help when you see closeup pictures post-shooting of his ear. There's a lot of blood, but no apparent damage."

Where do you think the blood came from? In addition to debunking the theory that it was shattered glass from a teleprompter, Snopes has a photo showing damage in two places circled.

HOLY SHIT…Trump’s speech last night is infinitely more disqualifying than Biden’s debate performance. Democrats should be embarrassed to be afraid of Trump.

Can’t wait to hear all the Republicans and members of the media demand he step aside. (Not gonna happen!)  😂

-C!

It is completely reasonable to expect official public statements from law enforcement and treating doctors when a presidential candidate is shot. It raises questions when such a statement is not forthcoming. Verifying the claims of a guy like Trump with a history of pointing at stacks of blank copy paper and calling them documents is common sense.

Meanwhile, Republicans are having a blast calling Democrats conspiracy theorists while blaming a shadowy "they" for the shooting, if not Joe Biden personally, and of course claiming Trump won the 2020 election.

And, of course, as has been pointed out, if he won in 2020 he really can’t be running in 2024.

Folks over here (the UK ) are being traditionally polite by holding to the societal norm that violence against politicians is off-limits ... fully agree - when decent people step up to represent their community, and try to effect positive change for their constituents. They should be applauded.

But this is not a traditional politician, and he has absolutely no respect for any conventions at all. Whatever it takes to get power - or cash - or power with cash. He'll grift and wrangle and pose until he gets what HE wants ; mainly (it seems) by criminal means if that works along the way.

He gives not a hoot for anyone else - and now we see the rest of the talentless idiot family lined up as some sort of formative political dynasty.

Pity that bullet wasn't an inch or two to the right*

*Mind you, a bullet passing through the centre of his head would've still missed his brain by about three feet, being that he talks out of his fat orange ass all of the time

I find myself thinking back to the JFK assassination, and one of the more reasonable “theories” that emerged from the various “conspiracies”.

The idea was that it was Gov. Connelly who was Oswald’s real target. Thinking went like this:

As the Presidential limo approached the School Book Depository building, Oswald would have had a clear view of Kennedy, chest up, while Connelly from that angle would have been protected by the bulletproof windshield.

Forced to wait until the car turned the corner, Oswald would have had to deal with a target that was moving away from him. The assumption then is that Oswald fired at Connelly but failed to properly adjust for the moving vehicle, so hit Kennedy in the back of the neck/shoulder. Oswald then “corrected”, aiming higher, and this time hit Kennedy in the side of the head—not squarely in the head, as might be expected if Kennedy was the target.

Yes, yes, pretty wild, tho not so much as the rest of the conspiracy nonsense. And, recall, it was Connelly who had signed the papers for Oswald’s dishonorable discharge from the Marines.

Oswald’s motivation in this scenario was the big publicity that would have attended Connelly being killed right in front of Kennedy.

All of which makes me wonder why no one (that I know of) has suggested Trump was not the actual target.
