Well, Trumpworld’s reaction to the debacle yesterday is to double down and say Kamala isn’t black.

Today, Trump doing Q&A at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Annual Convention & Career Fair... BOMBING.... horribly.
... Yeah, but the real headline is that he went. i.e. he isn't writing any votes off or taking any for granted.
——
I think the best take I heard yesterday was Trump going was not necessarily about him trying to appeal to black voters (which he clearly was not prepared to do), but to provide deniability to his voters who might be concerned over the accusations of his racism. “See, he attended a convention of Black journalists! He’s not racist!”
Of course he fucked that up as well.

Trumf clearly enjoys being outrageous. He—or someone on his staff— has figured out that his base loves it when he lies, boasts, exaggerates and grabs p*ssy—especially if it’s someone’s other than his wife’s. (These are not sophisticated people. You can be sure a lot of the men have fantasies about rolling around with a porn star.)So all this b*llsh*t adds to his construction of himself as a Man of the People. As One of Them. And please remember: they are about half the voters in this country.

Indeed. I’m reading now where he planned his racist tirade yesterday just so he could rile up MAGA and make his base see he’s still with them.
As if his base would ever search out anyone else to vote for.

Ahhh, so THAT explains why his team cut the Q & A short yesterday.

And neither do his ardent followers. Republican politics have become entirely about identity rather than policy. They are the party of people who have less formal education and distrust/resent experts that know more than they do. That's it. So what Trump did in office, or what he promises to do in the future, does not matter to them. It doesn't even matter if he enacts policies that go against their interests. Because he is one of them and that is all that matters. It really is a blind faith cult of personality, which is scary.

With apologies to As Good As It Gets, to understand the modern Republican voter’s mindset, you simply begin with a normal person, then you take away reason and accountability.

Haha! Vance is telling everyone to give credit to Trump for the prisoner exchange while Trump is saying it shouldn’t have happened and it’s a bad deal.
