Every single dang thing that Trump has done since entering office is going to hurt the economy. Mass deportations would likely raise the cost of food. Many private businesses rely on data provided by Federal agencies for their function. Tariffs raise the prices on almost every sector and also impact the stock market (see yesterday's initial drop of 800 points, followed by a 500 point climb) and I'd have to imagine the dollar will lose value against other currencies.

Is it possible that the American economy may surge back? Sure. But I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD that the 21st century is just a digital remix of the 20th; all the same shit, mostly happening in the same order. We just had our destabilizing global pandemic and now we've got our rise of nationalist right wing governments. We've even got our own auto magnate with a media outlet to spread antisemitic conspiracy theories. I see no real reason to think we won't have a global depression within the next few years. Historians will call it the 21st Century CryptoPit or some shit. It's all gonna be a huge barrel of laughs.

I have a friend who's visiting Iceland with her daughter next month and
while I haven't expressed it to her - I don't really wanna be a Captain
Bringdown before her trip - I'm definitely concerned as to how an American
will be received there in this moment.

We’re supposed to go to Canada in July…

Once you're past border control, there's no reason to refer to yourself as anything other than a proud Canadian. Your dad was American, but he left to avoid Vietnam, right? That's why you have the accent. And you *love* hockey. Hockey and Rick Moranis!!!

Ukraine manufactures 40-55% of their own war materials.

30% comes from US

30% from Europe.

A far cry from the MAGA lie that everything they have comes from “the
west.”

Do they also manufacture troops?  ;-)

Seriously, what the US provides can't be replaced.  That is what the Ukrainians say.

Trump cut off intelligence sharing today, not all of it, but some.  Frankly, I'm surprised Starlink is still on.

Sickening winky face aside, where do you think Ukraine's troops come from?

Anyone curious about what Ukraine actually says about continuing the war, here is a great piece from actual experts: CAN EUROPE BACK UKRAINE'S FIGHT ALONE?

I know Michael Weiss and Jimmy Rushton - Weiss personally.  Neither man is an expert in military matters, however I do have an expert, and he is Ukrainian.

“Europe can’t possibly replace American aid,” the former deputy of Ukraine’s military general staff, Lt. Gen. Ihor Romanenko, said last month.

Source New York Times: https://archive.is/VeH27#selection-1983.0-1983.142

In the New York Times piece (from today), they go into some detail on why Europe can not replace the US.

As far as where AFU troops come from: the videos of men being dragooned into service are easily available.  If they had men eager to fight this would not be necessary.

There is a video circulating of the former chief of staff of Azov Bogdan "Tavr" Krotevich. I assume he knows what he is talking about. He says that if things continue as they are the front will just collapse.

As far as I know Krotevich is neither MAGA, nor Russian.

Brennan, Weiss does not claim to be an expert, the actual defence experts that he quotes are the people whose qualifications you are disputing.

I don't see what ground your personal connection to Weiss puts you on to do that.

Your worst-case interpetation of Ukraine is consistent but your evidence is suspicious (Krotevich's quote about "if things continue as they are..."? Who is asking for or planning on that, exactly?). Your opinions are overly definitive and more in line with RT propaganda than any reporting that I trust.

What I can't figure out is why?
