Wow!
An American president and members of his cabinet conducting a Mafioso shakedown of a foreign leader in front of a live audience.
DAY 38 into his 2nd term.
I didn't have that on my Bingo card.
We are now the shithole country.

As I said in my post yesterday - his fans & the Russians are lapping it up. So they think they did an excellent job. This world is screwed, & I do mean world, because he is going to tear it apart.

I was really, and I mean really, active on this board in the political threads as well as social media between 2015 and 2020. And then I got…tired. And depressed. And angry. And defeated. I backed away from posting anything overtly political because, quite frankly, it just wasn’t worth the time. I know my people and they know me. There shouldn’t be any doubt who I align with, where I choose to spend my money and what I support. It’s all out there.
Today, man, today may have changed that.
What a fucking embarrassing, dangerous, overt display of “bad Americans”. This shouldn’t come as any surprise, really, as Trump sided with dictators, oligarchs and despots the first go ‘round. But this was different. This drew a line he didn’t draw his first term, just tip toed around it. If calling Zelenskyy a “dictator” wasn’t enough, now he reads chapter and verse Russian talking points about the war. Trump has always been quid pro quo in everything, but now he boils the war down to a game of cards and who holds the best hand. Zelenskyy rightly called him on it. And what a fucking toady Vance was. A VP who is VP in name only suddenly showing up today to overtly start a fight with the war torn leader of a European nation because he, what, wasn’t “nice” enough in front of the cameras?
I was a child during Watergate (but remember it), I lived through the Reagan years (ugh), watched Clinton’s peccadillos over 8 years and saw GWBII wage an unjustified war that cost thousands if not millions of lives. This is worse by a magnitude of infinity. I know that sounds hyperbolic, but it ain’t. And, as mentioned, we’re not two months into a 4 year reign.
Say what you will about how the Dems ran the last election, but this truly is a watershed moment for Democracy in America. Full stop.

Didn't GROVEL enough. Trump and his crew wanted near- literal bootlicking, pure and simple, and they were offended when they didn't get it, and Zelenskyy had the temerity to try to actually, you know, negotiate, rather than be dictated to. Utterly disgusting, low class, and eye-opening (if one wasn't already fully aware of what the world is dealing with re: Trump this time around) display.

At this point, if NATO has its wits about them, they should boot the US from the alliance, and start arming while doing everything to support Ukraine. If Putin gets it, there's literally no reason to think he'd stop there, and plenty of precedent to believe he won't. Canada should cancel its F35 contract and buy Gripen or Rafale or Eurofighter instead. Stock up on Meteor missiles and IRIS-T. Those things would give any air force pause Scary as hell. The threat of the US becoming dramatically expansionist is too high to screw around hoping Temu Mussolini will see reason. He's clearly fresh out of it.
Great Cthulhu, it's gonna take decades before anyone can trust us again. We should buckle up for some tough times.

Watching it again the thing that bothered me the most amongst all of the indignities was the "Don't you own a suit?" line and seeing Vance and the rest of the cronies laughing it up like it was the funniest observation ever.
Unhinged levels of stupid and evil.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
What you saw yesterday was the 2025 personification of the White American Male.

That Trump and crew are the avatars of whiteness is the strongest argument yet of the need for a post-racial America. Lord knows if we can even get there from here.

Is there anyone on the 'not Trump' side with a gun, and a plan? Because that's what it's going to take.

I’m one of the Whitest guys on the planet, but I feel no kinship with Trumf. He—and too many Republicans—embodies everything that’s wrong about being White.

You know that word we can't say anymore...the one that's one letter off from 'petard'? It may not be appropriate in other contexts, but it sums up Trump, and the idiots who voted for him.
