Since my diabetes has chosen to ramp itself up a few notches, I decided to take some of the thinking out of things and signed up for this food delivery service. So far, excellent meals.

We signed up for HelloFresh at the start of COVID, back when supermarket shopping was extremely problematic.

Yep, excellent meals, but once you're given the ingredients and recipes, what purpose do they serve outside of saving the trip to the supermarket?
We dropped them a few months later, but still cook some of the dishes that they offered ourselves, in particular their apricot-balsamic chicken recipe. |

Don't you want, as its website says, "A fun cooking experience that makes you feel unstoppable"...!?

Never been much for cooking, unless popcorn counts. Perhaps, like Vinny, I will eventually add SHOPPING to the equation. (There are things to buy besides bread and milk??)

We subscribed to a service a number of years back that offered fully

reason we stopped is because they moved.

They also offer their recipes free of charge. We still use a couple of them
and are actually going to use one sometime this week.

We’ve been using Hello Fresh for a few years now. There are a lot of repeated recipes, which is great if you find favorites, but the selection has really expanded. Their Thanksgiving and Christmas meals have been really damn good. I’ve learned quite a few techniques in the kitchen that I had never tried before. Taking the guesswork out of planning and shopping for dinners has been awesome. I save recipe cards for meals we loved and remake them later. So, a big thumbs up from me.

I’d subscribed to two services, at different times, that provided cooked meals. I stopped because both went out of business.

Cook Unity is a good option. You just have to heat them up.

We tried them once as a free trial referral from a friend.  The food was ok, but we were shocked by the packaging waste in each meal.  I guess they are trying to make the customer feel they are “cooking” by adding each ingredient separately.   But I think most people would be fine if they combined as many ingredients as possible.

My family gets heat and eat meals from the local Aldi's. The Thai coconut chicken is one of my favorites. |

I've heard HelloFresh described as "it's LEGO for food" -- cooking is simply part of how one assembles the kit!

(But in all seriousness, JB, I know that not everyone enjoys cooking, and more importantly that diabetes sucks.  Didn't realize you had it.)

I've wondered how those services work out, my parents might need something like it at some point, but a friend in a small town (he loves to cook and would no doubt add to anything from his huge stock of spices) found it wasn't available to him, so mostly just for cities or suburbs of same?
