I think the media loves Trump, whatever side they may slant to, as its red meat and ratings gold. Whether you love him or hate him, you watch (I am trying to taper down, social gone and news apps deleted).
Trump is a mentally unhinged moron who like Dubya has daddy issues. The problem for us is it plays out for all of us to endure. I think people should file a class action suit against Trump for all the time wasted over the past 8 years, or longer (birther nonsense, etc.). He's stolen years from everyone in his attempt to stick it to daddy and show what a big man he is.
I think it's apparent that he feels invincible. He's been accused of everything but as Rebecca notes, plays the victim card. Interesting to see how the GOP, base and right wing media plays into that. Is he a tough guy who isn't afraid to say what's on his mind, no matter how horrible, or is he a picked on innocent who needs love and coddling? Amazingly he's found he can be both. Tough but delicate.
I think he's done horrible things and walls are surrounding him but he knows there's not much that can be done. If he runs and wins, he'll end the court cases and effectively be king, doing worse than what he did his first term. If he isn't the nominee or loses, he'll say it was all rigged and his minion will cause more violence.
The scenario he is presented a deal not to run and avoid prison time seems a reasonable scenario except he knows if he continues to be defiant, the only option potentially is to send him to prison. How can a person with a lifetime security detail following him around go to prison? I think his lawyers have explained this and it's the reason he keeps doubling down on arrogance.
At the end of the day our and our allies top secrets were exposed to who knows what groups, he continues to have support, even from his opposition for the nomination, Fox fresh off their "win" with Dominion (settlement and never having to really note they make everything up) keeps feeding to make even more money, and the toothless imbeciles who support him, even after seeing others go to prison, continue to feel emboldened. Turns out the freedom to air whatever racist, hateful, antagonistic thing you could say is satisfaction enough.
