Such lists are alway arbitrary. For myself, I’d say INFLUENCE should be a big, big factor. That, imho, would put Kirby and Neal orbiting the top spot.

Agreed, JB... I'd like to add that ANY list that states "greatest comic book artists of all time" should start with Jack Kirby and Neal Adams.

Influences matter and they blazed a strong trail. Pérez and JB made me appreciate Adams and Kirby even more.

I'd say George might be the #1 most popular artist of all-time. I agree greatness is more about influence and, in that regard, Kirby would be the highest.

Three of George’s signature Hawaiian shirts will be going up for auction, with proceeds to benefit his widow:

And I never knew Carol made his shirts!  He and I share something then, as my wife makes my Hawaiian shirts as well!

George---used to talk about her doing his shirts for cons. Only on 4 occassions at cons did he not have one of her shirts on and long time fans would have fun busting his chops. And a few times, when she was with him at the New York shows, a few of us asked if she would take orders. I'm glad that there are enough shirts for a fundraiser for her and the cancer fund.

Got to meet the man in the mid 80s at the local comic shop here in NY Mike's Comic Hut. He and the owner were friends as I believed he lived in the area and even drew the artwork for the shops merchandise bags. Very nice guy, generous with this time. Was fascinated watching him draw while he was doing a meet and greet. May he RIP.

I spent the end of the year absorbing the work of George Perez. I came across his pencils from the aborted JLA/Avengers project and this page in particular was one of my favorites. Always wanted to see it inked. This is my tiny homage to one of the greats.
