A posting to George’s Facebook group says he passed away yesterday.
Such a huge loss.

Damn. We knew he was ill, but still ... This is just dreadful, and so shortly after having lost Neal Adams.

My deepest condolences to Perez' family and friends.

I'm brokenhearted.

One of the giants for my generation of readers.

Countless hours of joy.

He delivered so much entertainment and many smiles over the years. I knew this was coming but it still hurt to read. Godspeed, George and thanks for all the fun.

Extremely sad to hear this. George Perez was a huge part of life enjoyment for me growing up.

I was told last night by a mutual friend. Held off any announcement here until it was made public.

What awful news. A brilliant artist whose work gave pleasure to countless readers over the years, and who I was lucky enough to once meet in person.

R.I.P George Perez.

Another legendary comic book artists, and one of my very favorite and top artistic influences. He was called "gentleman" George, and it was a nickname he earned as he seemed to be genuinely beloved by everyone who met and knew him. You never heard any horror stories about him from fans or pros. He inspired generations of comic book artists, and made a lasting impact on the comic book industry that will continue to reverberate throughout its history. I was grateful that I had an opportunity to meet him in person at a convention, and saddened I will never be able to do so again. His legacy will live on through his artwork. May he rest in peace.

At least we still have a lifetime’s prodigious work to revisit.
Condolences to his family, and also a thanks to George himself. He made this hobby such a wonderful place,
