You KNOW Spidey is seeing the Thing/Torch events of last issue from the reaction alone. Pretty neat drawing there JB!

Doom and Magneto sure do feel like an "all hands on deck" emergency, one not limited to the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. (Just my $.02.)

That said, I like that JB is being strategic with guest appearances. Better to be sparing with these than go overboard and turn ELSEWHEN into "...guest-starring the X-Men!"

Which reminds me of the old debate as to whether or not the X-Men could/should be able to hold their own in their own book without an assist.  It always seemed proper to me that they should be able to ---
cuz I always cheer loudest when the X-Men hand some bad guy the business.  They're not disabled ---  they're enhanced.
So them kicking Magneto's butt underneath the volcano, or stopping Moses Magnum in his tracks, or turning the tables on the Hellfire Club...  well, yes ---  they spend hours every day in a combat school.

The Danger Room is like training at Top Gun for superheroes --- they should be able to kick butt on their own.

Pardon the drift, but this is why the Joss Whedon/John Cassaday
"ASTONISHING" run was so good.
For 1.) that was arguably the best Cyclops arc ever written, and 2.) they got knocked down a lot but always got back up and kicked the bad guys' butts even harder.  If they didn't possess the raw power for whatever reason, then they made up for it with guile.

Apologies to Mr. Worf.

Ah, splash page. You pique my interest and yet tell me nothing. Wherefore art thou, Spider-Man?

And we're off to a swinging start...and vertiginous is certainly the word.  Yikes.

JB - was today's page an intentional homage to the FF #250 splash?

JB: "On this page I reverted to something I started during my last sojourn with Spider-Man. I draw his nibs right way up, and the background inverted. I find this adds to the level of vertigo in the shot."

JG: "nibs"?

Heh… took me a moment to realize things were upside down LOL

Or is it right side up from Spidey’s perspective?

Reminds me of that time Men at Work did a concert in the US. They had a map of the world behind them, and when they did “Down Under” they flipped the map and said from their perspective we (the United States) were actually down under!

It took me a second to realize what direction we were looking at with the Spider-Man splash page. Heh. Very cool!

About that "Fantastic Four" #250 splash page: It appears you were channeling Ditko for that one! Cool stuff!

See, this sort of thing is what happens when you don't have flight control: robots make everything a travel hazard.

Seriously, though, love today's page. Spider-Man looks terrific recovering from that near-miss with the web and then the OTHER near-miss...
