Adamantium is an alloy. One of its component elements is found only in one place on Earth. A naturally occurring alloy containing that particular element seems most unlikely, even in a Marvel comic.
Dang this is fun. Very curious every day to see what is next. How he acts after this should be interesting. And how poor Pablo deals with it too (as a parent I identify with his mom). But dang, a full week to wait? How did we survive in the old days waiting a month between issues? Oh yeah, getting together with friends and speculating with the dumbest ideas ever. Sadly some of those dumb idea people seem to have taken over the big companies now.
And hey, why not a mutant alloy? There is a mutant island (not just today, but I'm pretty sure it was declared so in Giant Size X-Men #1) so it wouldn't be unprecedented.
Count me in for an Elsewhen Invaders storyline someday - I'd love to see that.

False equivalency.
For fantasy to work there has to be a thread of logic. Verisimilitude!
Colossus already strains the logic of Marvel mutation, as does Kurt “Stop Me When You Think I Have Too Many Powers” Wagner.
A mutant island is, at least, a living thing. A chunk of metal is not.
When I first saw the Invader's panel that referred to Logan as John "Werewolf" Smith, I immediately went to Google in search of him. It felt as though all I had to do was look hard enough, and I would learn there was an old, tough character by that name who appeared in just one or two Invaders stories, and that JB was using him to make that connection.
