I also immediately got a Neal Adams vibe from that panel.

It’s a cold swipe, guys! Not something I would necessarily do in an actual published book—not for decades, anyway—but a handy tool here.

With so many characters going in Elsewhen, the pace feels lightning
quick!

Actually, I can not say those two thoughts are necessarily connected—
but both are true. I wonder if there will be any Elsewhen issues with
“solo” stories?

The best your Thor has looked since that TEAM-UP issue DeZuniga
inked.

I’ll take that! Those were some of the best inks my pencils have ever had!

First post - I'll try to be concise and observe etiquette!

JB - my first encounter with your work was when I was 10 years old and I was seduced by a copy of UXM #120 at whatever time in '79 it would have appeared in a UK newsagent (British reprint "weeklies" existed, but imported US comics in general circulation was only just beginning to happen in my neck of the woods - the next issue I was able to find and buy was #126, then nothing till #136, then #138... ARGHH!).

I knew what I liked (even though I couldn't really articulate why then) and you and those characters and stories quickly became my favorites. As I grew up my comic-reading continued, and expanded as the medium became more popular and widely available (by the end of the 80's there was an actual comic shop just a bus ride away, where I could guarantee getting everything I wanted in terms of new releases - and there were back issues - oh boy!)

As years and decades passed I changed, and comics changed, and I more or less stopped altogether as the retcons and inconsistencies piled up until I no longer connected to any of the series that I used to love. My buying became mostly about collected editions of the stories that captured my imagination in the early days...

I only recently heard about what you'd been doing here via Twitter, and figured I'd see what it was like. I started reading mid-June and have just caught up to where things are now (after the first couple of issues I made a deliberate choice to not read more than 1 issue per day max, as I've learned I get less enjoyment from even the best things when I binge them!).

This is the comics that I fell in love with! These are the X-Men I fell in love with! How can you still be telling stories this good, with art this beautiful, and making me care about the characters again the same way I felt all those years ago?! Especially when (sadly) no-one else seems to be...

I haven't figured out whether to try the "page a day" approach from here on in, or a weekly or monthly approach, but I will be following faithfully for as long as your generosity with this project continues. Thanks again!

To me, it looks more that Neal Adams was doing his best John Byrne (and maybe inked by John Byrne as well.) But that's a butterfly dreaming he's a man, etc. It is an appreciable moment.

And Thor vs Gladiator again. But done NICER this time!!! (No insult to Mr. Simonson... but I know who I wanted to draw THIS match-up!)

That close-up of the Thor has a real Neal Adams feel to it.

Off-topic: Every time I hear a mention of Sif I am reminded of an opening from SNL back in the 1970's: "'Charlie's Angels Catch the Syph' will NOT be seen tonight so that we may bring you the following special program."
