Might be more logical to wonder why Magneto HASN’T pulled this vanishing act before.

The two on the ground are alt-Scott and alt-Warren, correct?

This issue is off the hook awesome - I'm digging every twist and turn.

I just can't get over how much I love that this is in pencils. There's a depth to
the art that we just don't see with finished inks.

The tonal quality of the uninked pencils definitely add to the “volume” of the figures. Not as much as in something like BLOOD AND TRENCHES, where I was deliberately “sculpting” the forms, but a certain something that’s lost when inked.

John N.:" The Guardian comment made sense but where would Magneto have learned that move and when? "

Well, it could take some people a while to get a good idea and then use it. But it depends on how it works. Someone could attach to Earth's magnetic field and go shooting to the East, or "detach" from Earth and let the world move under them, "moving" west just as speedily. Without knowing which, it's an incredibly dangerous and stupid move. "I'm gonna blip from Boston to London by moving with Earth's rotation" - okay. All that's in the way is ocean and maybe some soon-to-be-disturbed (and splattered) birds. But Earth's magnetic field rotates at the same speed Earth does - and we do as well. This method might not get one anywhere that they wouldn't anyhow.

"I'm gonna blip from Boston to Chicago by 'detaching' Earth's magnetic effect" - unless they are high enough up, they're gonna hit tall trees, buildings, birds, airplanes, and a lot of debris. All at the speed of Earth's rotation. To phrase a coin... "Ouch."

Of course, there are 'leventy-thousand details to this, and Guardian IS a super genius. But I do wonder how THIS M-Men team would have fared against Alpha Flight. That coulda been messy...

With everything that's been going on with the team, I have to remind myself that the real Jean hasn't worked with the new guys as much we thought.

An absolute masterpiece issue of the XMen. The cover deserves the
Bicycle Ad across the top to give it street cred.

I have to do that too, Wallace! Beware of slipping into familiar patterns!

You're not the only one! My wife still chastises me about not getting a commission when I had the chance.

Below is me over-thinking it and amounts to saying "super powers are impossible".  Boo hiss. Just skip it.

INVISO TEXT (Click or highlight to reveal):

The earth magnetic field rotates with the geography. I think it's a one-way trip at best.

Also, (sorry, I'm a simulationist) you still need a way to eliminate/alter your current velocity/trajectory with respect to the earth's surface which is a result of your inertia (mass), not a magnetic thing.

Magneto would need something more like a super-collider repulsion against the earth's quasi-static field. But this is akin to how he flies anyway.

I know no one wants to hear this, so I will shut up now so everyone can get back to enjoying the show.
