A Question for JB related to the earlier post: I understand you are a big fan of Neal's work, and it's not like he's dead (or senile)---so do the two of you ever talk shop?

Our paths have crossed maybe four times, from when Neal was the first comics pro I met, back in 1971, to when we spoke briefly at a con in Boston in 2018(?). Only on that first occasion did we talk craft. I showed him my portfolio, bursting with Neal Adams swipes. He said “This is good ME, but what can YOU do?”

Shock of Realization: that first meeting, when I was beginning a four year long quest to get into The Biz, was FIFTY YEARS AGO.

Apparently nine words to the wise* were sufficient!
*plus art school, 50 years of hard work, etc.

Unexpected! How in the world could you resist "geek-ing out" on elements of art when you met subsequently?
What (if anything) do you think prevented that sort of conversation?
Similarly, are there things that still inspire you artistically these days? In the sense of, "Wow...I'd like to try something like that!"
EDIT: Sorry --- too many questions. :)

@Darren Taylor re: Alex Toth
Interesting fellow. I've never heard of him before (or at least I don't remember). Awesome artwork. Also, his words in the link above mirror my own thoughts, though I don't think I'm quite as gloomy. (There is still some good stuff.) Am I really getting old and crusty, "old man yells at cloud?" I do have to say that I think a lot of modern comics are bleak and cynical. Nihilistic even. Where's the fun?
Anyway, regarding the latest installment: the suspense! It's killing me!

Thanks for the response, JB! I find myself both suitably chastised and informed.

Are we already nearing the end of this issue? Seems like we just started!

Pablo had better be OK, or I'm cancelling my JBF membership dues!

JB's portrayal of Jean Grey continues to impress me. She is very much Cyclops' equal.

Yes, this Jean is the one that got in the cockpit of that shuttle, facing death to save everyone.

Pablo had better be OK, or I'm cancelling my JBF membership dues•• Oh, surely you don't think I'd spend months developing a character just to suddenly off him? Would I....?
