I wonder what Arch-Angel was thinking going up against two foes who can strike from a distance.

Hey hey! The "mentalists" seem to be turning the tide.
I was wondering if Alt-Magneto's helmet would have shielded his mind from Prof X, since he wouldn't have had the impetuous our Mageneto had to construct it that way.
Another Wonderful page: JB...your art...there just aren't the proper words...

Mr. Byrne - fascinating that Darkseid sees Galactus much as humans do. ••• Nothing in the book says that. In fact, as I recall, that property of Galactus is not mentioned at all.

Oh, I forgot to mention how pleased I was to see Professor X use his power to directly impact the fight.
JB, I know this may be obvious, but just want to make sure my understanding is correct.
To the "casual observer," it may seem that Marvel Girl, Magneto, Jose and Ashley all possess the same power, but...
- Marvel Girl is a telekinetic who uses her mind to move people and things.
- Magneto manipulates the metals in people and things to move them, and can affect objects much heavier/larger, and from a far greater distance, than Jean.
- Ashley and Jose animate inorganic objects of any material by sending part of themselves (their life force or soul) into those things.

Mr. Byrne, I asked how Darkseid sees Galactus, and in response, you posted a page of how most normal humans see him. I inferred that was your answer, as you so often cleverly reply with art. Sorry I misconstrued... but it DID seem to be an answer from you sir.

Schedule yourself an extra training session in the Danger Room. Second, no, that’s not how I interpret their powers. They are basically TK, like Jean has, but I want to play with ways in which the same power can manifest differently in different individuals.

I really do like the shading in this series! Another great-looking page! I had almost forgotten that the alt-Magneto would not have actually met any version of Charles Xavier before (nor any of his team, for that matter)!

It's so wonderful to see Jean in action, but it's strange to see her having to fight Angel. She is just back in action and facing both the people she knew and these distorted shadows of her past.
Now THIS is a comic book!!

Even Neal Adams himself has to be jealous of that Professor X rendering.

Wallace - Maybe you're thinking of JB's original Caliban sketch with the soul projection thing? (I think that was how it worked?)
Loving the heck out of this issue. It's great to see Xavier get to really act. I assumed he paralyzed Peter to keep him from swinging. Sure Magneto could still lift his whole body, but at least then he couldn't manipulate his limbs. The difference between waving a statue around and being able to play with a puppet.
