But given the circumstance...is Gladiator in the wrong here?
With all their advance technology the IG’s “doctor” says he can’t save both of them. So naturally Gladiator would pick “his” person, right?
If the situation was reversed and the X-Men had this congelation of their own Kitty and alien person Astra in their possession ...and they couldn’t save both....would anyone expect Xavier to not choose to save Kitty?
Gladiator is cold blooded (and clearly no Superman) and ruthlessly uncaring for Kitty. But he’s out to save his fellow Guardian and that feels right.

I know I'm supposed to root for Kitty but I feel sad for what might happen to Astra.

Well, Gladiator is definitely no Superman! Superman and the X-Men (ours, not the M-Men) would never choose to allow someone else to die. Even if they are kind of jerky.

I really like this Kitty/Astra conundrum; it represents an opportunity for Lilandra to begin rebuilding Xavier's trust after the hideous way she treated Jean, but it also presents as a risk toward the further destruction of that trust...which way will she choose? And I had no idea things were leading here until this morning!

Lilandra's been put into a coma so i don't think she'll have much to say about it!

'The human is collateral damage'
Hey it was Astra that put them in that predicament! How is that fair?

Don't expect anyone from a group with "Imperial" in their name to accept blame for anything!

JB: As many of you have doubtless realized by now, it is my intention that Gladiator NOT be Superman.
**
What a great way to put it. I was taken by surprise.
I can't blame Gladiator, but it suddenly feels like we're in Star-Trek's mirror-verse.
Which is appropriate, considering. I just LOVE this series. It is building as fast and as expansively as any comic book I can recall on things that I have held as almost sacred since childhood. And it's doing so brilliantly -- just as the Len Wein advice would advise: all of this is what I want, but none of it is what I thought I wanted!

No way! There's someone far more deserving of Professor X's attention right there on Earth...

ITEM: Mr. Byrne, you've easily succeeded.. I have never expected Gladiator to be Superman, any more than I expected Jax-Ur or General Ur-Zod to be Superman.
ITEM: Two Angels. One Beast. Two Cyclops'es. Two Icemen. Two Marvel Girls. One Professor Xavier. Two Quicksilvers (?) Two Scarlet Witches (?)
As was once paraphrased... what are we gonna do with fourteen X-Men? :)
ITEM: Mr. Byrne, if it's not an insult... how did you get Neal Adams to draw that last Gladiator panel? Nah, I take it back. Neal NEVER looked that good (and he's great...) SUCH beautiful art!
