Ororo's impromptu outfit looks very similar to what I've seen some of the ladies wearing at yoga classes.

Storm explaining how the change works!•• And Chris covering the art with as much copy as he can. Most of it superfluous.

So Storm changes into a Star Trek costume to be LESS conspicuous? Where did THAT come from?

Where does she (or anyone) say anything about being “less conspicuous”?Time to brush up on those fundamental reading skills.

Trying to imagine any situation in which a woman as striking as Ororo would NOT stand out. I don't know that what she's wearing is going to matter in that regard!

I should add rereading XMHH to this weekend’s agenda.

Storm explaining how the change works! ------------------------------------ That previous art panel almost looks like a parody with the word balloons taking center stage and the art as incidental background!
I recall JB doing some comic issues with just the art as the narrative, no words - and that was just so effective!

Yep, totally forgot those panels. Coming back to me now seeing them. Love it when writers know more about minutia than I do - that is how I like it. Can be embarrassing on boards like this, but I'd rather be the one who is wrong than the person doing the comic.

JB: Where does she (or anyone) say anything about being “less conspicuous”?Time to brush up on those fundamental reading skills. "For the moment, students, let us not compound our problems... perhaps the fewer costumed super-beings present when the police arrive, the better." Certainly the Professor's words have a not-too-subtle implied meaning. I was mainly questioning to logic of having Storm change into a Star Trek costume after hearing that.

“Starcore uniform”. Not STAR TREK, not costume. Quite simple if we actually READ THE WORDS.

Tom, you might need to go back and read the issue in which those panels appear. If you do, I think it would all make sense.
In that famous Sentinel story which first gave us Phoenix, Starcore was a space station and the space shuttle they were on was a Starcore shuttle -- therefore Storm's actions jibe with the professor's instructions in the context of the story. By adopting a Starcore uniform, it would mean fewer questions asked by the police than being in super hero costume or even civvies.
