So annoying... A person in a group that's supposed to be devoted to Byrne fans made a comment about the current page writing, "Age of Apocalypse" followed by laughing emojis. If one joins a group dedicated to the work of a specific artist whose work one supposedly enjoys, at least brush up on the artist's career and such before making ill-informed snarky remarks.
"Age of Apocalypse" used the same idea that Xavier was killed and so Magneto ended up forming the X-Men. I can't say that those involved with that storyline knew about JB's proposed "What If" story that was mentioned in the interview of "The Art of John Byrne" back in 1980, but I would have to think that being that the "Apocalypse" story was spread over the entire line of then-current X-Men titles, involving so many writers and artists, and the X-editors, surely someone in that assemblage was aware of JB's "What If" idea.
So, with ELSEWHEN, JB finally gets to do a take on his earlier idea, and some uniformed "fan" takes a shot at him for ripping off an idea that was actually his to begin with. Sigh!
Naturally, even supposedly big fans can't be expected to know every single aspect of an artist's career, but how about giving some benefit of doubt before making a snotty remark and exposing one's own ignorance?
Edited for typos and clarity.
