Really curious how the What If... X-Men crossed over into "our" reality.

Great teaser while we deal with the (surviving) Shi'Ar Imperial Guard deal with the X-Men.

I am really looking forward to the new stories after JB's completed his "house cleaning" of getting to the new status quo.

I think as a one time thing, ersatz versions of the Distinguished Competition's characters are fine.  They can make nice Easter eggs.  And given Cockrum's earlier work, they were just fine when they first appeared.  But when they show up again and become part of the repertory cast of the universe, they need to be distinguished as characters and become more than just copies of whoever they were meant to be.

Even though JB obviously does not care for the LSH copies, he's certainly put more effort into doing the necessary work into making the Guard concept a "Marvel" one than any other creator I can think of.

Love these cliffhangers even if I feel now like I'm going into another episode of Star Trek.  Geez, they have wrung every drop out of that one alternate universe haven't they over the years.  Where is Magneto's goatee? :)

JB, have you confirmed that these strange-looking bracelets or braces on Mag-Man Beast are a version of claws or blades ? What colour have you thought of for those -if it's not too much of a reveal. I'm amateurishly colouring the printed pages and would like to know. Same for Jean's control suit by the way...

Once again, a truly gorgeous read. Thank you so much for sharing this masterpiece. Nothing I've read in the last fey years from the company who handles this specific fictional universe can hold a candle to this series (an I regretted wasting my money on those books).
The "living D'Bari salad" was a really overwhelming revelation. So logical, and yet... never figured out before (as far as I know).

I sense the Neal Adams influence in the shading of Gladiator's face on the last panel of page 19.  Very nice!

What are the odds of Spidey swinging by Amanda's apartment once again at the same moment of Kurt's return to the location?  Maybe Spider-Man was waiting there for Kurt to return?  He served his purpose being there by giving Kurt the information about Amanda's demise.

“Excellent page as usual. 15 people (not incl Spidey and Nightcrawler) in that last panel - and even though they're small, each with distinct shapes and attire. JB is definitely not a lazy artist“

So, Paul, how do you feel about that now you’re the one inking the issue?

Wow has it really been five years! I could never in a million years imagine back then I would be inking that issue for publication. As a matter of fact, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it now! What an absolute blast!
With the many smaller figures, I have to be so much more careful inking them and still try to vary the lines as if they were drawn larger (but to scale). One wrong move and Nightcrawler can end up looking like Beast! But honestly, I welcome those challenging panels/pages.
One of the best pieces of advice you gave me that I'll never forget is that on one of my early posted pages you mentioned the lines looked a little too same-y. That really opened my eyes on the use and effect of line weight and started me on a studious course for line improvement.

and I just have to say it - this project is a proud badge of honor for the rest of my life!
