I think these stories are proving what a great idea it was to introduce Kitty into the team right after the Phoenix saga concluded.

Her presence allows the regular characters to be their own private-selves as we experience, with Kitty, what it's like to join this mysterious group of superheroes.

The fact that part of the core reason for the X-Men is that the members were chosen for this life by quirks of their own birth makes them a really pure version of the Marvel-Comics "team ethos". These are great characters, thrown together by conflict, whose loyalty and affection grows through personal turmoil.

It all feels new again with ELSEWHEN, but THAT feels right because Kitty is there and we can feel that "newness" through her eyes.

The tone and choices of each Elsewhen issue are, after 30 years of fan-interest, fascinating in so many respects. What is addressed, what is not addressed, what is the same, what is different -- I can't help feeling reactions to everything. And I can't help being blown away.

What I am most thrilled about is that the book just keeps moving and bringing surprises. What I realized this morning is how valuable Kitty is to making that really successful.

My heart is breaking, by the way, for these poor D'Bari.

Oh Mr. Byrne... it's three hours past the stroke of noon and STILL no page today? You're gonna put me in my grave, man!

Seriously, is all well? I suppose there's not a lot that we can do - but CAN we do anything?

Quick observation - that close up on Wolverine’s eye with the patterning in the corner, I’m hoping that’s the last of the stone texture disappearing as he heals, rather than bloodshot eyes, because that looks awesome.

I’m doing okay. Lost a day yesterday to various real world intrusions. Back on track today.

Hm. Just realized Vuk didn’t get stoned. He was zapped by the same weapons that dropped Scott and Kitty.

Trouble keeping track of these pesky D’bari!
