Love that expression on Kitty's face in the last panel!

 | This whole series is making me feel like I'm a kid again, reading the comic and thinking, "Wow, what's going to happen next?"

Yikes! I didn't pay close enough attention yesterday to realize that was Sprite's hand in the last panel of Tuesday's post! Nice move! Now sic 'em, Kitty!

Oh, and Cyclops is looking like the attacking machine we have come to expect wolverine to be!

 | I know the D'bari are the "villains" here, but from what little they know from their point of reference they are quite justified in their actions.  And it's sad that they are some of the few left in their entire race.  However, they are lucky that Scott and Kitty won't use lethal force in defending themselves.
 "Salad boys" LOL

Can the D'Bari speak English? On yesterday's page Cyclops says he can't understand what they're saying but today he and Kitty apparently can...?

Kitty is giving me big Sigourney Weaver as Ripley vibes here. She's really stepped up in this issue. I hope Scott and the Prof. are proud.

I've fully enjoyed having Kitty so involved in the story so far. She very much reminds me of my 14 year-old daughter: elected government position at school, captain of her soccer team, has opinions on a lot of what is going on in the world and wants to be heard, wants to be included in decision making at home (even if it's just what's for dinner) and asserts herself...both of them have a clearly developing idea of who they are and there's a lot of...ahem...pride and strength there. Thank you for bringing Kitty along and letting her be her, JB.

Because I have a very shallow knowledge of the very deep Marvel history, I had no idea Vuk was in Avengers 4. I thought the D'Bari were created just for that scene in X-Men 135.
Look at me. Still learning things. |

AVENGERS 4 was, of course, the issue that brought back Captain America. Stan and Jack went for one of their default settings for the villain, an extraterrestrial. Their second in four issues!

 | For some reason I took an immediate liking to Kirby’s design—dubbed neither Vuk nor D’bari at that point—and when I wanted an alien race to destroy, preferably one not too deeply woven into the Marvel tapestry, I remembered them. Right from that moment I knew we could most likely get some mileage out of Vuk returning home at last, only to find it destroyed.
