Chris greatly resented the plot threads he inherited from Len. Most especially the death of Thunderbird, but also the departure of Jean. The latter was a bit curious. Roger Stern interviewed Chris for FOOM, asking about his plans for the X-Men, and he noticed that Chris kept mixing up which one was Jean and which Lorna!

Now, the bad news: I have come to the realization that I AM going to have to skip posting pages for a month. Various contributing factors have stripped away too much of my lead time, so I'm only a couple of months ahead of what I'm giving you here. Not enough for me!------------------------------------- A month is perfectly acceptable. I half expected you to say until beginning of the year (we've gotten a little bit spoiled because you've been so consistent). On a side note - I went back and read this series from the very start. It has settled in so organically since then. Like it's been around for years (well, it has but you know what I mean). I can't wait to see what's next!

Sometimes I feel tempted to delete the “first issue”. After all, it began as the scratching of an itch in my mind, and aside from a few fun bits, it really doesn’t have much to recommend it as a STORY. In many ways, the “second issue” does a better job of introducing the characters and their various dynamics, as well as establishing the X-Men’s “world”. And, yes, it flows more organically into the following “issues”.

Mr. Byrne, thank you for all this wonderful entertainment! This has been a gift that we are honored to have - and for free no less. You don't even demand the collecting of a few laurel leaves. Any more.
Enjoy your hiatus, and I hope we'll hear from you in the rest of the forum. Thank you!

Yes, I'll echo Eric's thanks.
I am not complaining (far from it), just curious---why do you like to have a month or more of reserve pages?
Is it because you like time to look over what's in the pipeline for a while and consider changes/tweaks?
From your description (not knowing Jean from Lorna!) Mr. Claremont sounds a bit "mercurial" to put it kindly.

With the news that JB would take a month off I too thought I'd go back and re-read from the beginning. Noticing that 1-3 aren't available anymore...? Are they gone or am I doing somethinig wrong?

Scott - I ran into the same problem until I reset how long back I'm looking. It's over a year now, you know!

I'm not so sure John B is taking a hiatus - just getting a bit of a 'buffer' while continuing to work.

It would be nice if you could at least 're-number' them and start with issue 0. That's a sort of 'practice' issue.
