That Gladiator packs a mean punch! I look forward to seeing where the next issue takes us.
I've been wondering about Professor X and his mutant power lately. He's "the most powerful telepath on Earth," but in what way? Exactly what can he use his power for other than to read minds, speak to them and mentally connect others? (Can he identify other mutants without Cerebro? I remember there being some confusion about that.) I'm not dismissing those abilities I mentioned, but can he do more?

Cerebro was introduced when Scott was put in command, and needed the device to take the place of X's ability to spot mutants. To do that, however, X did seem to require those mutants to be fully mature and using their power(s) on a more or less constant basis. Recall the Vanisher and the Blob, for instance. And don't even THINK about Magneto!! As to the extent of Xavier's powers, he has shown the ability to "edit" thoughts, and even to control people's minds/bodies to some extent.

It looks as if Dark Phoenix created that scenario on the Astral Plane to torment Scott. And we know Scott has recovered from dying on the Astral Plane when Mastermind killed him there. Doesn't mean it isn't painful as Hell, or that Scott could ever get used to it.
Again - it seems that Dark Phoenix wants to torture and torment more than kill. Twisted bitch. I wonder if there's a scenario where Dark Phoenix could somehow be transformed BACK into Phoenix. I mean... who would have a better shot at Dark Phoenix?

Which part irks? (guessing appearance change?)
-----
Xavier must be living in a world of constant temptation to "adjust" people. Their thoughts & emotions so shallow and malleable.
Everyone has an Achilles Heel---something in their mental construction that prevents them from being even better than they are, but also something to which they are mostly blind. How tempting then it must be for him to want to fix/cure others.
I would imagine there's also some loneliness there, experiencing the world so differently. But, probably, best not to dwell on that too much...that's the slippery slope into Marvel's current crop of all-melancholy/all-the-time. What makes them heroes is how well they shoulder life's burdens WITHOUT morose self pity.

And false memory or not, it has got to hurt having your neck snapped by Gladiator punching you in the face.

I like that I can see a trace of 'Slim' Summers in Cyclops. I mean as opposed to someone with tree trunk thick neck and thighs. His face should be longish just like that! I thought I'd say something nice about him before he dies. :^)I don't know where this is going but it'll be good, er well, bad, because Phoenix is pretty tough, but good for readers. If I wrote things they'd all be having nice afternoons enjoying sandwiches and not arguing just saying how cool it is to have powers and a big mansion.
