Those panels demonstrate a problem many artists seem to have when drawing Wolverine--they can't get his hair right. I think most of them take the Beast as a default setting, but whereas Hank McCoy's hair is bristly and does tend to create a smooth surface between the side plumes, Logan's hair is much more tousled, and conforms to the shape of his skull. The plumes on the sides are separate entities.(Yes, these are the kinds of things I think about. It's a living!)

Question for JB: Wolverine's past has been altered by so many creators over the years.
Do you have your history or timeline of Wolverine you could share with us?

I think Wolverine should have a mostly secret history. I’ll be addressing this.

Agreed. The Mantlo/Buscema scene should be considered to be "Day 1" for Wolverine - his first contact with characters that we already know, and his first memory after getting the claws.

I agree that Wolverine worked much better with a mysterious history. For all that it sold a lot, ORIGIN was a mistake.

I can't even begin to describe the disdain I have for ORIGIN.
Everything that was good about Wolverine died in that series. HOUSE OF M just kicked the corpse by giving him his complete memories back.

You're better off that way, Doug.
I did like BWS's Weapon X story, though. Besides it being gorgeous to look at, it showed the events of Logan being turned into a killing machine without a whole lot more being revealed.

Wolverines hair I like to think of as "extreme" hat hair. Top of hair pushed down and sides sticking out.

It's hard to put that "mysterious past" genie back in the bottle, because now some writer somewhere will dredge it up or fans online will say "look, it's CANON now!" etc. Some decisions are made for bad reasons and lead to lasting mistakes. As JB notes, ORIGIN was a mistake on many levels--and that's sad, because you can't recapture mystery all that easily (if at all) once you throw it away.

I'm worried about what Phoenix will do now that she can no longer detect the people in the safe room. Cyclops is a lot braver than I because hidden under a rock is where you'd likely find me at this point.
