If Sabretooth won't work, there's always the Wendigo. No reason it can't come south, as far as I know. Just a random thought.

But Sabretooth is SO far from “my” character, I couldn’t do much without contradicting
********
I’ve resisted throwing out any requests or wishlists throughout this endeavor of yours, but hot damn! do I want to see you work Sabretooth into it. I’m with Vinny, I would love to see what was described years ago or a reasonable facsimile thereof. A Byrne Wolverine/Sabretooth meeting is meant to be!
And you’re not worried about contradicting anything else from X-Men lore that came after your run, so why would his usage be any different?

Comics can be confusing or simple depending how it is handled imo. As a kid I never had trouble with Earth1/2/3/S/etc. I loved the 2 Superman characters existing. The Legion had the role call showing faces with names so new readers could quickly figure out who a character is and if their favorite was in the issue or not. Loved how that series was when I was a kid (old guy) in the early 70's with a main story action/all characters and a backup that tended to focus on a couple of characters so you could learn to love the oddballs.
Would LOVE it if JB decided to do a fanfic of the Legion but pretty sure that ain't happening. The Generations having Saturn Girl disgusted with the health care of the 1920's was perfect.
As to the latest pages - fun stuff, a shame I doubt any of the pages will be sold and if so they'd be way out of my price range (single parent here). Starting to find it hard doing the checking daily for a new page - worked so nice when I found this site and read through dozens of pages at once. Ah well, nice problem to have.

I suppose it's always lurking somewhere in the back of my mind that X is supposed to be in his early twenties!X in 1964....... Interesting to note Xavier referring to himself as possibly the first mutant. In those days all mutations were the result of parents being exposed to radiation, which limited the time frame in which they could occur. Something long since forgotten by Marvel.

Curious point: Dave frequently drew Xavier as something of a "low brow", with a much less elevated cranium than had been given to him by artists like Kirby and Adams. Yet, like so many of Dave's tropes, it worked, and doesn't really look right when he gives X a bigger bonce! (Clever way to have everybody facing the camera!)

In another thread, Michael Penn raised this point:"Tangentially, it's definitely interesting to ponder, as JB keeps generously giving us more ELSEWHEN stories, whether the original impact (not the intrinsic quality!) of the Dark Phoenix saga was also a matter mostly of context, and particularly so because it seems like the impact was really most powerful years after JB had departed." I've long felt that Dark Phoenix falls very much into the same category as Gwen Stacy. If Gwen, like Peter's other girlfriends, had merely drifted off, she would not have created such a massive wound across the face of the Spider-Man mythos. She would have stood next to Betty Brant and Liz Allen. So, too, if Chris and I had done the story we originally intended, with Phoenix becoming a recurring villain and, most likely, eventually being "rehabilitated", there's no way the story would have cast such a long and deep shadow. Creative crews inheriting the X-Men mythos would not have had THAT hanging over them from Day One.

Have you ever used that mirror “trick”, JB?•• Not that I recall. Altho....... One day Shooter was complaining about what he called "objectifying the panel borders", by which he meant having them sub for floors and walls, so the characters appeared to be standing or leaning on them. He declared "If you don't show the floor, the readers won't know there's a floor there!"* Now, my thought was that something as NORMAL as a floor would automatically, even unconsciously assumed by the readers. It would be necessary only to show if there WASN'T a floor! So I asked if I should cover all the background walls with mirrors. After all, if the readers can't see the backs of the characters, they won't know they HAVE backs! (The basic absurdity of Shooter's point is underscored by my solution: any time I wanted to do a shot where I would normally use the bottom of the panel as the floor, I would add a narrow black band, thickening the border. This, apparently, was enough to satisfy Shooter's desire that readers be assured there was a floor there.) __________________________ *Honestly! He said that to me!
