"Laced" was added (to placate Shooter) after I left. Therefore, in ELSEWHEN, not real. Does this look "laced"? _____________________________ It looks like a forearm where all the bone have been surgically replaced by metal mechanical devices and -- despite the monochrome coloring that was not done by the guy who drew the pictures -- a humerus with three patches or metal plates.

Kitty’s Crew is lucky Phoenix’s attention was drawn back to the surface! That doesn’t bode well for Colossus, Professor X, Storm and the others though. Night crawler’ s teleportation power sure would come in handy right now.
Ah, well... Paging Cyclops!

I see a humerus completely made of metal, as evidenced by the shadows and light reflection. Same with the skull.

I don't believe Peter or Ororo are wearing any "lace" };->
Actually, it does look like the whole forearm is metal with the housings to contain the metal claws that seemed to be the early conception pre "bone" claws...

Len Wein conceived the claws a telescoping out of the gloves. And Wolverine as 18 years old. The first time he popped the claws without gloves on, it was something of a big deal!

I rather wonder what Jahf can do against Dark Phoenix. I know he's indestructible, but all she needs to do is boost into orbit, or on a trajectory into the sun, and that's the end of that discussion.*
Or would Modt appear? Or the guardian who is a million times stronger and tougher than Jahf? It wasn't very clear in X-Men #108 how that worked.
And of course, the idea is to NOT out-shadow the X-Men in their own book. But even with the assistance of the Starjammers (tee hee), I'm not sure how the X-Men could physically defeat Dark Phoenix.
That might not be the point, certainly. Surviving with the whole team may be sufficient!

I’m thinking back to the old MAD parody. Superduperman defeats Captain Marbles by tricking him into punching himself in the face. “Captain Marbles was defeated by the only one as powerful as he, he!”

We all know the X-Men HAVE TO win, right? Even in ELSEWHEN, where I can literally break the toys any way I want. Good must always triumph over evil, because it's nicer.Which is not to say you will ALL be satisfied with my little "solution".

Maybe Galactus will come along and "devour" the Phoenix, and somehow that will restore... or... something?! GAH!

It's fascinating to watch Dark Phoenix "thinking out loud" about how to catch Wolverine.
I'm so used to Phoenix, the universally powerful force, being resurrected again and again that I forgot how, as we actually last saw her, she was very new, brash, wavering between human concerns and galactic prey.
This series is just wall-to-wall pleasure to the last micron. Has there ever been anything like it?
Maybe the Bruce Springsteen/E-Street Band reunion is a distantly related cousin? It's the only time I'm familiar with of an artistic endeavor being cut off at its "prime" and then picked up again years later with the same, or even more creative momentum. Maybe there are better examples, but this is an extremely rare event. And the price of admission is so affordable!!
