Rough times are ahead, for sure, but no fatalities. Sort of.

Not really your style to break the toys before you put them back in the box, though I suppose this project would give you some leeway in that department.

Wolverine has been put through the ringer throughout the entire adventure. I get the feeling the next time we see him...well...”ewww”.
Mr. Byrne. I am curious about your thoughts on Wolverine USING his claws in a fight against “The Bad Guys”. It would seen that the use of his claws against anyone but an armored foe or someone with very tough skin means he would do very, very grizzly damage. For a superhero that seems like “a lot”. Do you as a writer make an effort to give Wolverine foes he can let loose on...without making it like a scene from a slasher movie?

I think Wolverine falls under the old saying “When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.”I don’t think our boy Logan worries too much about who or what he’s up against. Hammer time!

Gotta say this has been a lot of fun to read - I got hooked on X-Men with 136/138 (137 I didn't find until years later). I wonder if this was done back then if I'd have been even more hooked in. Always wondered 'what if' the team was allowed to do the story they wanted. While this obviously won't be dead on as we only have one of the creators with over 30 years more experience behind him on it, it at least is sorta answering that question.
Now, if only we could get a Fantastic Four post-Byrne story which addresses the Skrull as Alicia thing (which bugged the crap out of me at the time as the idea that Reed wouldn't have known a Skrull was impersonating a person close to the team like that seemed idiotic at best). A one pager with Reed checking his tools for scanning for Skrulls and either confirming she is or isn't one does the trick for me.
Meh. I'm thankful for anything at this price and will never complain about it. As to the other famous runs ... I think She-Hulk #50 showed as good an end as possible, Superman's final I think was the Supergirl storyline (Superman kills due to no choice and saves that universes Supergirl, about as solid an end as possible imo), Hulk and Avengers WC I didn't feel had much left to do at the time (wasn't a big fan of either run sorry to say), and I recall reading that Alpha Flight was a 'I have no more ideas on what to do here' situation. Always up for a Rog-2000 story. Plus I'm always up for more Generations (thankful the archive is coming out) Yeah, I'm an 80's collector (born in '69) - sue me. Someday I'll dig into the more recent stuff maybe, but for now I have 4 kids and 4 grandkids so time on comics is limited.

That way lies madness!!

Well, I for one would love a parallel FF ELSEWHEN that picks up where JB's run left off. I thought the closeout of that story was a massive disservice to JB and what he had done to make the FF shine.
Just my two cents.

Oh, man. That is a really creative, non-gory, agonizing thing for a villain to do.
