I have multiple guesses for that. Really, it could be a multitude of people.

That’s a very Ditko-like face of Magneto in that last panel!

I wonder about the need for an inker when I look at these wonderful pages...
About the story itself, I'm sure now Magneto will get out of this...
But it seems more and more difficult for him to fight the X-Men on his own (as already seen in the volcano battle).
So Mr Byrne, have you plans for the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants to come back at his side?

This issue is outstanding!!!! The cliffhanger pages are killing me but they're so perfectly paced.
I was thinking how cool the contrasting colors would be on this last page between Magneto, Madrox, Cyclops and the background of the facility.
Do you "plan" for color combos / contrasts as you illustrate the scene?

And now you've seen who the "mysterious" figure was, lurking in the background of the previous page. I can't honestly believe anyone would be surprised! This was the most heavy-handed "shadowy figure" since Marvel tried to pull off the same thing with the Titanium Man!!

Nice to see Madrox use his powers without the splits getting into an argument over who is in charge.

Oh, and Magneto's last blast was a great example of line work conveying power without the need for digital color effects.

It doesn`t seem possible, but it gets better with every page.
It's certainly a thrill to see Wolverine - I know that's a Big Deal for all of us fans of the original run. But for me personally, it's great to see Cyclops leading, fighting, falling, getting back up again, and not giving up even when he needs to be propped up!
Thanks for bringing Scott back, JB - I've missed him!

This page I've lingered over longer than the others. Drawing multiple bodies of the same character (in one panel) must be a slight challenge? (especially that costume!). Gorgeous page.
