I see the unauthorized John Byrne Draws site has wasted no
time stealing these pages.

======

Someone on Twitter pointed out that what the person behind
the JBD site is doing is called content scraping, which is
illegal. You could probably sue him and win if you wanted
to.

Bottom feeders like this survive on the time and effort it would take to squash them simply being too much of an inconvenience.

Hell hath no fury like a fanboy* who feels scorned.

And, yeah, the other site frequently does “outrank” the JBF on Google.

I'm no lawyer, but I do believe the copyright holder, in this case JB, can contact Twitter and file a DMCA complaint.

The copyright holder would be Marvel, who own the characters.

I’m absolutely loving Scott as leader.

I’ve ofter said one of my main beefs with the X-Men films is that Scott should be a leader second only to Captain America. Of course, before the Marvel films, no one knew what I meant.

Now they do but they just can’t see it, having only seen the films.
& then there is the crap Marvel put him through.

Thank you for restoring the Scott I grew up with

The latest pages were the ones I found most exciting so far from a story perspective -- very compelling. And makes a lot more sense to me with the narration and dialogue than before. I took the transformation of Wolverine literally when I first saw these pages.

Don't know who to feel more sorry for: Storm or Wolverine. "Pretty much cooked right through!" Gruesome!

All this weekend, I've been telling my customers to check out the pages on this site. One, who has seen some of the pages, talked about how great they looked.

Fun stuff!

Won’t pretend the number of views on the art thread haven’t been a disappointment. Perhaps I did Marvel a favor!

If there's a positive about the guy, and others like him, who take these pages and post them elsewhere,  it's that it shows there is a good number of fans interested in seeing your work, JB.  The issue with view numbers of this site, I think it's due to how more people stick to social media sites these days.

Pages on Facebook and Twitter that use your name can get more views than any thread on your actual site because of this phenomenon. And the only reason those fake accounts get so many views is because of the use of your name, proving there is interest in your work by many more fans out there.

It's very odd to say, considering that visiting another website is a matter of a few keystrokes,  but frankly it seems too many people are simply too lazy to seek out and come to the site. Easier for them to search out a Byrne related account on the social media site they already use daily and absorb any new news or work from and about you there, in an indirect and distorted fashion typically.

This is the modern world, sadly.

Look how many people praise the art in comments on those Twitter posts, or comments on things like the SyFy video interview. Yet,  it's obvious these genuine fans of your art don't bother come to this website, if they are even aware of it.

Heck,  most everyone that buys comics from my business knows your work, and the great majority of them are fans. However, it surprises me how many seem unaware of this site, or have heard about it and never checked it out.

One thing I can say for sure is that the numbers for the fan fiction thread are not truly indicative of the potential audience for a print version of the series.

There is @ least one Facebook group that is strip mining the pages & posting them. I’m not the only member of that group that posts here but only the owner would be able to see the page stats - number of views, reach etc.

Would be interesting to see their numbers.

I posted page one as an advert for my friends to come to this site, but only page one.

& yes, I agree with Matt - I’ve been following this development since its start but found out it was being published from a Facebook page. It then took me a while to find it as I didn’t realise it was in the fanfic area, & then that area doesn’t announce its existence on the main page.

A lot easier to find these pages @ the strip mining sites @ the moment.

As an aside, if I google X-Men Elsewhen, the actual thread comes up 14th in the list of results, behind some news reports & a strip mining site or two.
