Issue 5 page 18 -
I don't know what I was thinking with this page - It's tough enough to just ink ONE of those Multiple Man figures!

Ha! It''s true, inking those is quite th task. It feels very fullfilling when you see the end result, though, doesn't it? Great job, Paul!

Thanks! Yup - the more a challenge, the more satisfying the end result (most of the time)!

Another one, this time from the most recent issue. I have to admit, I almost went blind inking the energy patterns and the demons (edited to correct panels in the page)...

Detail from the page:

Thanks Shane! That means I'm moving in the right direction!
Athanasios I know those energy patterns are no easy task - nice job! Good use of light to dark

As an experiment, I tried doing something that's not quite inking and not quite coloring. I took today's Elsewhen page and selectively "painted" in more contrast using an overlay layer (in GIMP). The GIF should switch between the BEFORE and AFTER images.

I hope it does not offend.

Here's the link.  I could not get the board to accept and display a GIF.

I was already working on another page when JB posted this one - I scrapped it and started inking this one.

and just for fun, I played with shading...

This one is from last issue. Looking at the inks later I find myself making them thicker in areas like the outlines and facial details. Included is a detail of the soon to be transformed policeman.

Here is the close up. The drawing is a wonderful collection of light and dark areas with that great expression of shock and surprise, I hope I’ve conveyed it well in ink.

Nice job, Craig! I also have the same issue when I reduce it down from 11x17, I'll find that I need to go back and tighten up some line detail or make some lines a bit heavier (or less heavy!). With practice, I'm learning how to better process firsthand how it will look when reduced.

I like that you are inking on 11”x17” I stopped inking on paper a while ago, but my dimensions are still the same on my Comic Draw app. The part I find most helpful is the ability to toggle between the ink layer and pencil layer. When they are both present I find it difficult to gage just how thick the lines are as the pencil layer often shows as a kind of ghost thickness. When turned off I can see just the ink and adjust as needed. I imagine this is similar to when you take the original ink art to be copied and the blue line drops out.
