I really enjoy inking John Byrne'sSci-Fi pages! Such a natural ability drawing aliens, tech, worlds...

Having a little fun in PhotoShop, I colored JB's darkened pencils a while ago but never finished it

That strikes me as very well done Christos!
(not sure coloring is allowed on the site though...)

I *think* coloring is ok in this case? This thread's title seems to have the word 'coloring' truncated.

Very nice work Christos...My only slight problem is how you've treated Jean's suit. It's not how I saw it skin/material wise but apart from that, I love it !

&c is a traditional abbreviation of "et cetera".

A general note:

Years--okay, decades--ago, I made a conscious decision to stop trying to do the inker's job with my pencil. The inker has access to all kinds of tools, brushes, pens, wadded kleenex, that cannot be duplicated with a pencil point.

Because of this decision, tho, my lines have become rather "dead". They tend to begin at a point and end at a point, with little variation along the way. Which is fine in pencil drawings, where varying pressure creates different shades of grey, and gives "bounce" to the line.

But when inking, the line is going to be (mostly) solid black, and the "bounce" has to come from the tools uses. Which is where the challenge comes in. Don't ink with the same dead line I use. Take maximum advantage of the tools.

Thanks for the great tip, JB. There were many times I wanted to change line structure or put a little inker's embellishment to the art but I didn't know the protocol for how much I could add to it while staying true to the integrity of the penciller's work.
This is some freeing information to know - now I can't wait to let loose inking the next page!

(Thanks, Sebastien!)

Great inking advice JB. Above is one I took a ton of liberties with and loved how it turned out.  A lot of novice inkers (and some pros I would think) have a great deal of trepidation making any changes to a penciller's stuff without permission.  I always assumed that when you made this thread, that you wanted to see all the different interpretations of your pencils.  I'm glad you let everyone know that is exactly what you'd like to see.

HAVE FUN PEOPLE!!

I finished up a few projects and got back to some Elsewhen pages. I'm surprised this one hasn't been attempted by anyone else.
