Just slips into the 80's cover category.

Wow, I had that Deadman issue and I had no idea that was JB's work. And yes, now, I can clearly see the signature.

A couple of new cover threads led me to this Byrne-centric one! I don't know how "random" these are since JB did some interior work, but I always enjoyed his WHAT THE--?! work! Here's the ones I already had saved--

Was that the only time I ever drew Obnoxio the Clown?(And who is that between Ben and Reed?)

I'm a sucker for JB's cartoony art. Reminds me of the early early Mad cartoons. Also, I can just tell it was a heck of a lot of fun to draw these!

I think of the cartoony stuff as my real style. I have to forcibly suppress it when I’m doing “serious” work.

And yes, now, I can clearly see thesignature.••• Which I would have insisted be removed before it went to the printer, had I seen it. See, Helfer, the WRITER, decided he didn’t like the position of the characters, so took a pair of scissors and CUT UP the ORIGINAL ART, which he then pasted back together as he preferred. Seriously.

Why would the writer have access to the cover? Or any of the actual physical pages of the art? If working Marvel-style, could they not just use photocopies? What was the actual practice, JB?

It blows my mind that there are so many links in the comic-creating chain, and so many opportunities (intentional and unintentional) for things to get screwed up.
