When did the emblem change to the one we know so well today?
Check out Kate's first pic as Lois.

I don't see what's wrong with redesigns on the shield, especially
considering that the one JB posted is itself far and away from the
original design. I like the original Shuster one, the triangle
look, the one JB used, the Frank Quitely version, the Christopher Reeve
version, the Kingdom Come version, etc. Let's have some fun with
the variation. If the people making the current movie want to
make their own twist on it, the more the merrier.
Now let's talk about what really matters: the real reasons this movie will probably suck.

I would like to be a flexible guy. Having said that, the emblem that JB posted is the correct one. According to who, you ask? ME!! I'm an important guy. My wife says I'm special.

There have been so many different S-shield looks that I can't say
there's a truly correct one. I would only say that current books
in the shared universe should be consistent in whatever look they use.
However, to say there's an objectively correct design is like saying
there's a correct design for Batman's costume, to the exclusion of all
others. I once met a guy who had the Kingdom Come S-shield
tattooed on his arm. Now there's an Alex Ross fan!

SPOILERS
Isn't he returning from Space in this movie? It is his adult ship that crashed in that field, not his childhood ship. I think we will probably see this shield as part of some new costume from his journey back to earth after his absence, but something close to the normal one later. That's my guess anyway.

I guess the rumor about Lois now having a kid is
true.
That makes me nervous.

Incidentally, I have no problem with the redesign of
the "S" emblem. It's not all that different from the one
Christopher Reeve wore.
I just hope the rest of the uniform looks good!
Thus far, the one that Reeve wore has never been
topped.

Is it possible the pic I presented is Lois and her kid?
Interesting take on Superman, I'm looking forward to it.

That honkin' big forehead on Lois is making me nervous. I think she might be Brainiac in disguise. And her "child" is some kinda killer kid robot. It's the only thing that makes any sense.

The very first shield looks more like George Reeves's emblem to me.

Tell me about it. As for the shield...POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT...don't read if you don't want to know...
I have been told by a pretty good source that the sheild is going to be a 3D attachment to Superman's costumes, yes costumes, similar to the Batsymbol in the first 2 Burton films. The sheild pictured somewhat backs that idea. And it does resemble the look Supermen had in the comics when he "returned" from the dead.
