Well, Harris did skip lightly around one or two questions. But Pence has a mastery at it.

Look, we heard nothing dumber from the fly than we did from Pence. "Vote for the fly..."

Pence, naturally, couldn't follow the rules. He got his marching orders from der covid-meister, so there's no doubt he was told to be a dick. Good news is, he has proven that none of the Republicans can adhere to the simplest rules. I have doubts about two more debates, simply because I don't think there will be an agreed set of rules Trump will accept.

I expected the remains of this debate to be akin to a rabbit after a starving wolf got rid of it. But Mrs. Harris was more than tolerant and patient on multiple occasions. No doubt Mamala was in the house... and more than a couple times, Pence learned that you don't screw with the Mamala. "Excuse me, Mr. Vice-President. I'm speaking." And then a couple of silent moments glaring him into the ground. I laughed aloud!

They didn't influence me, nor were they likely to. I made my decision about voting Democratic on January 21, 2017. I've yet to recall a single moment that wasn't my choice, and I fail. I was going to vote ANTI-Republican as much as Democratic. Even if the Democratic ticket were, say, Michael Bloomberg and Marianne Williamson, my thoughts were, "It still ain't Trump."

In recent decades pundits have said debates have had decreasing influence on the minds of an increasingly polarized electorate. However, when you trail by 16 points in the latest poll with 26 days until election, you debate. What have you got to lose? There's always the chance that somebody commits a major gaffe. If Trump declines this, it means 1) he's not healthy enough and his COVID is more serious than revealed or 2) he's not smart enough to see this is maybe his last chance. I'd be surprised if he doesn't reverse course for the one trillionth time.

Rodrigo, that was seriously funny and spot on.

I have to say as I supposed faint praise for Pence, compared to listening to the
President I couldn't help noticing how much more professional, balanced and
intelligent Pence is. I don't like him or his beliefs but at least he's not a fool,
which makes him more scary.

Or... the friend of an idiot might just be a case of birds of a feather flocking together. In which case I wish they'd all flock off! :^)

Biden should refuse to do
any more debates. He has
nothing to gain from them
and doesn't need them.
Trump desperately needs
them, Biden doesn't.
Trump's disastrous
performance in the first
one was perfect for
Biden,no need for more.

Trump's staying power with
his base, depends upon
Trump being able to capture
their attention and remain
front and centre, and right
now Trump can't do any
rallies or get on a stage
with Biden. If we could
just get the news media to
ignore Trump's tweets
designed to get
attention...

Trump’s gonna have a rally in Florida on Saturday and Pennsylvania on
Sunday. Now THAT’s how you quarantine.

Disappointed that Biden agreed to reschedule next week's debate rather than insisting on a virtual debate.  A virtual debate would have been a golden opportunity to rein in Trump's behavior and actually make him try to discuss issues.  And Trump had no leverage here... he needs the debates more than Biden at this point, so Biden should have said virtual or nothing.
