Going to take a bath today. Glad I'm in for the long haul.

I am quite surprised that with all the instability brought on by Greece, the turmoil in Venezuela and the looming threat of terrorism that something like this could occur. The global environment is getting quite ripe for a dictator to emerge "for the people".

The Stock Market has reacted as I feared it would, with greedy cowards prepared to destroy our economy in order to save their own skins.

Disgusting.

It never fails. Some event (often foreign) happens, the consequences of which we cannot fully predict (much less see happening immediately), and Wall Street loses its collective mind.

I hope there's no correlation between people who voted to leave and people now trying to figure out what the EU is.

I wonder what this will mean for Northern Ireland (My current company has an office there - but I haven't spoken to any of the developers there about this topic, yet). Ireland and N.I. have a completely open border these days (as shown by all the roads that cross it on Google Street View).

Well, checking the news more would have told me that!

"The pro-independence Sinn Fein party in Northern Ireland also called for an Irish unity referendum -- taking Northern Ireland out of the UK."

With Scotland also following suit (again).

Oh boy.

Scotland just voted 68 to 38% to stay in the EU.  It makes no sense that they would need another vote.

Northern Ireland is being talked about for the tax rebates to the Game of Thrones production up there as part of the EU. Can you imagine people dead set on leaving the EU that have a change of heart when they find out GoT might have to pack up and leave? As if that could be the deciding factor, but not all of the other, MUCH better reasons for staying in the EU. But I get the feeling there are many people that act on life changing events without being fully educated on the ramifications. The US doesn't have a monopoly on that tidbit.

Scotland will very likely leave if there's another referendum. United Ireland could then happen. This is just one domino.

Yes, I imagine England will be very alone in a couple of years.

There's no guarantee that an independent Scotland would be invited straight into the EU. They very recently had a vote to stay as part of the UK. Given the issue is rather important, why wouldn't they need another vote?

In Spain authorities are worried, because 25% of international tourists that visit us are British and it is taken for granted that their purchasing power is going to be significantly reduced.
