John Byrne, I read your response many times, it felt very artistic, the story you told about your mother made me feel like I could see what happened that day. Thank you for sharing that, it felt like a very special moment and I really appreciate reading.

Marcio, I think I'll take your advice and try and use Airbnb for Calgary, good idea and Mission sounds right up my strasse.

The reason behind going is purely skiing, and to maximise my time on the slopes I want to minimise my time on the road. I appreciate that Lake Louise isn't too far from Banff, but I'm used to European skiing where you walk to the lift not drive! I'll take another look at Panorama, as an alternative to Kicking Horse, though it is a little further. Jasper is a little too far for me. I don't like long drives and anything over 2 hrs is a long drive for me!

Hey Peter,

We are having some fairly warm weather in the foothills. I don't know how far into the mountains the warm weather is, but you should keep an eye on the ski hill conditions. Sorry I can't advise you in any other aspect.

If you decide for Airbnb, I can put you in contact with Jon, I rented his apartment in Mission, I think it was a great deal.
I think you can identify the Airbnb ad looking for Downtown Executive 2bed/ 2bath Condo it is at 333 22 ave sw near the 4th st sw.

Good luck and I hope you have a great time there.

Just realized, in another small coincidence this shot...

...is also part of my old territory. The home of the girl I was dating when I started at the Art College was on the street just off camera left. It was the bus stop that tipped me off.

Got back from my trip yesterday. The skiing at Kicking Horse was insanely steep and very challenging, but great fun -- and some of the most amazing views to be had there of the Rockies.
