Eric L: "I wonder if anyone recorded the acceptance speeches."

Yes, or if anyone has a transcript of Chris Ryall's comments, please share it with us. And I believe that Sergio Aragones inducted JB?
I really wanted to be there. I couldn't get tickets, then I had a friend who could get me in, and then I had to work right through the whole damn weekend.

Yes, or if anyone has a transcript of Chris Ryall's comments, please share it with us. And I believe that Sergio Aragones inducted JB?
Sergio is the emcee of the Hall of Fame portion of the Eisners, so he provided a brief overview of the Hall and what an honor it is to be a part of it (and he himself was inducted several years ago), then he read a list of all of the nominees (lots of great people on the ballot this year). Inductees who were in attendance accepted their own awards, but those who were not in attendance were represented by a personally-selected guest.
In JB's case, his editor of ten years, Chris Ryall, accepted the award, and he mentioned how grateful he was to have been his editor for about one-fourth of JB's career. Chris's t-shirt featured the iconic cover from X-Men #141, and he talked about JB's humble beginnings in fanzines and as the artist of Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch before coming over to Marvel and electrifying audiences with his work on X-Men and the Fantastic Four.
It was a really nice speech, brief and to the point, and it was a great lead-in for Chris Claremont's induction. Chris was there in person, and he had high praise for his collaborators, singling out John Byrne specifically.

Oh, and I should also mention that Chris Ryall made a point of mentioning that one of the highlights of JB's professional career was when Will Eisner called him a "master storyteller." Like I said, it was a great speech.

Bob Kane has at least one virtue: proving that semi-talented people can bring about lasting creations -- even if in the office of a midwife.
That is encouraging to someone like me who has practically NO TALENT.
And, no one would care about Kane's flummery if only Finger had received his just rewards, but then again one gentlemen was equipped with the mindset to chase after the credit and the other ... not so much. Let DC start lobbying for recognition of Finger's (et al) contributions, and we'll soon forget what a glory hog Kane was. The Hall of Fame is where JB's name belongs, no matter who else is in there. The fans know where the merits lie, even if "civilians" might not.
