JB, you're one of the last good ones -- you should have been born in 1940 instead of 1950.

You fully merit your presence in that list.

But that group certainly showcases an embarrassment of riches in terms of choices.

So 4 out of the 13 will make it into the hall of fame? Those are pretty good odds for JB.

I think it's safe to say JB will make it in there this year.

I would not take that bet.

Just hope they don't choose Frank Miller. Not after "The Spirit".

Top mainstream talents have a big advantage with the Eisners voting pool, so JB, Chris Claremont, and Frank Miller are pretty likely candidates here.  Matt Groening's obviously got name recognition in spades, so those are most likely the four to beat.  (Wondering why Walt Simonson and George Perez aren't on the ballot yet, since they got started around the same time as JB, Claremont, and Miller...)

I'd imagine that JB feels the same way, but it's strange to see the Eisner Hall of Fame rounding the corner from the Silver Age crew into the next wave of creators.  It's not quite the same as finding out that Green Day's going into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but it's weird to see creators who are still very active getting official recognition like this.

I tried to register, but it looks like you have to be in the industry to vote.

You would get my vote JB!

You deserve it!

I'm not sure how the Hall of Fame Awards work for the Eisner's as I know they have a ceremony at SDCC every year, but I would figure the hall of Fame awards would be given out sooner? Or is it at the at actual ceremony?

Either way, the big question is, if SDCC flies you out to San Diego for the awards show, or to honor you for your achievements, would you attend JB? Not sure how that all works, and I'm pretty sure you have to be in the industry to attend the Eisner's , but it would be amazing to have them honor you.

I'm surprised some of those individuals weren't already in there.  But, JB, you have  a very established career and I wish you the best of luck in this process. I do love when favorites of mine get recognized.

The Hall of Fame awards are given out at the Eisners ceremony at Comic-Con.  That used to be the final award of the night, but they've moved it up around the midway point of the ceremony in recent years.

You have to be in the comics industry or be a comics retailer to vote in the Eisners.  The nominees are selected by a different panel of judges each year, but the voting (except for the two judges' choices for the Hall of Fame) is up to comics professionals and retailers.
