That's where I first saw the rumor too. Johnston doesn't check his sources (once before he told me he doesn't have the time to do that sort of thing.) But I agree, JD Finn is a long shot, and he certainly hasn't been writing Action for more than a year.

Having read this week's ACTION, despite the time travel elements, I doubt JB wrote it.

And if he did, I don't want to know.

There is no way he's Finn....and there is no way that Finn isn't Austen.  Yes, I'm going to get a run writing superman who is argueably the most recognizable figure in comics and suddenly a guy takes over that noone has ever seen before.....Yeah right......

If he was anyone it would be the Gotham Knights.....

I had some log-on problems when this topic was hot, but did anyone guess Justin Gray?

First of all, Gray started with Palmiotti on Hawkman about a year ago, approximately the same time Chief did the fill in issue.

Second, Just - in Gray?  As in not providing pictures, just writing words.

Third, I'd like to point out the last panel of issue #23.  Golden Eagle quote, "Nope, The name's Golden Eagle."  Now, I know this is a stretch, but that sounds like how a JB character would introduce himself.

Fourth, I don't think Palmiotti has much writing experience (because I've never followed his work) so it would be natural for him to get help from a pro.

I really hope JB is involved with this because I really like Hawkman.  I was worried after Johns left, but I think the comic is actually better.  I'm always anxious to read it.

Why ghostwrite/pen name?  Well, it is a little darker than what I would normally expect from JB, and maybe folks thought the anti-Byrne snobs would automatically poo-poo it if they saw Byrne in the credits.  I dunno.

Anywho, thats just my guess because I know nothing about Justin Gray and JB does have a connection to Hawkman from about a year ago.

Oops, I did a google search and it looks like Justin Gray is really a person.  I'm so not hip, this guy totally is under my radar.  D'oh!

Thread related drifting:

I have been a live musician in NW CT for 13 years,
having played many places, including Toad's, Webster,
Palace, to name a few.
I've recorded albums with three bands, and know a certain
"audience" as my own.
Point being, I yesterday recorded some new material, with new
sounds, hardware, and a very different style.  Upon placing it in the
CD player this morning at work, the waitresses, whom I've known for
years, asked if that was me, and in fact, said, in this order,
"It doesn't sound like you.  This is good.  I like it!"

I don't know whether to sigh, laugh, or cry.
(I, by the way, also think it is great, and better than any of my other
songs and recordings.)

Vad i javla helvete!!!

The first thing I thought was J.D Finn. That Chuck Austen would write the three last issues of what was supposed to be (at least) a 12-story "arc" allways seemed kind of...humm..strange??

My only other guess would be titles like Scooby Doo or Power Puff Girls.

I hope Mr. Byrne will let us in sooner or later.

Andy Diggle is a former 2000 AD editor and I've interviewedhim about 4 years ago. Not JB.
