Maybe Chuck Austen is JB's pen name.

So, god help me, I dug around on the internet, and found that the JD Finn/John Byrne rumor started with... yes, Rich Johnston, and, later, was retracted by the same:

"Update: Yup, it's Chuck Austen. "Finn" also referes to Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, while over on Chuck Austen's "Worldwatch" he's been replaced by "Sam Clemens," Mark Twain's real name. Feeling jaded yet? "

So, no, it's neither Finn nor Austen... but then again... one can never believe what Rich types, so... maybe he *IS* Finn?

Arrrgh!  I'm losing my hair fast enough as it is!  This is driving me nuts!

This is definitely the best thread I've seen since
my arrival in August.  Very entertaining.

Hmm leaked and prong... Aquaman perhaps?

So Will Pfeiffer is just an alias? ;-)

Where was it said that AJ Lieberman's first name was Andy?

The comicbookresources article says that "Andy Lieberman" is starting to write Harley Quinn with #26, and the credits in the issue says "A.J. Lieberman"

Maybe JB is just ghosting a book for an established or known comic writer (already in on the prank) that has simply passed along his duties with both his blessing & permission.

Bob Kane was a collective after all.  There were no writing credits for Bill Finger after all.

Bzzzt!  Check previous pages on this thread for the pen name vs. ghostwriting discussion.

That's where I first saw the rumor too. Johnston doesn't check his sources (once before he told me he doesn't have the time to do that sort of thing.) But I agree, JD Finn is a long shot, and he certainly hasn't been writing Action for more than a year.
