Well I appreciate being turned onto new books, and as I said, the ones that I read were quite enjoyable. (whoever wrote them).

Now I just have to find a book with The Stern Building hidden in the art somewhere.  THAT would be a dead giveaway.

Why not CC did it for 16 solid years on Uncanny X-Men? But since I read every issue of his original run I can hardly complain.

Me too, Andrew - I meant it as more affectionate than perhaps it came across!

Yes, folks, that sound you hear is Byrne Bashers, er...bashing their heads against the wall. "I might be buying a John Byrne book...and...liking it!  Aaaargh!"

Stephen King wrote novels as Richard Bachman to see if it was his name that sold the book, or the work itself.  If JB really is doing work under a pen name, then I'm hazarding a guess it might be for a similar reason.  An experiment, if you will...

Good point Roger. Once the title is revealed (when JB is
finished writing it I guess) I will be very interested to hear JB's
assessment of the experiment. What did he hear people say
about the "writer" of the book? Should be fun....hopefully I can
track down the issues in back issue bins by that time....

Maybe it's already been mentioned here, but a few years back Claremont claimed to have been writing Marvel books pseudonymously also, to throw his detractors off.

OK, this is going to be fun. If I may make a recommendation to
those participating in the guessing game - if you're going to
guess a title, let's hear valid reasons for why you picked the
title. I think following Todd H's lead is best.

Well, if we ever need to figure out a Claremont penname, just look for phrases like 'now I own you body and soul' or 'my psychic knife is the total focused effect of my telepathic powers' or....you get the idea.

Hah! Yeah, I think it'd be a hoot!

I mentioned this on one of the previous Boards, that if there were no credits given in the comics, I wonder how many people would still complain about certain individuals.

Yeah, JB's artistic style is almost always easier to spot in a crowd, but as this thread has proved, his writing is at least as varied as his women's faces. :)

The only consistent I've seen in JB writing style is that cool CAPTION at the end of a page which signifies what is coming next, but many (most, all?) times can also correctly end the page you've just read.

Wonder if there will be a TPB coming of the work?? !!

I don't believe this pen name thing is for real.  However, I wonder if JB could, if he wanted, draw under a different name.  In other words, could he consciously take on a whole different style, something more Image-y, and make it work to the point where you wouldn't even know it was him?

He could probably pull off a Bruce Timm- type, animated looking style and no one would be the wiser.

Did it -- tho whether anyone was "the wise" depends
on whether they read the credits.
