John M: "I'm with Eric -- the fact that JB said "reveal" in quotes
suggest he's kidding. "
*****
John, I don't see where JB said "reveal" in quotes. Do you
mean the "leaked" quote at the top of page 4?
I believe he is using quotes for that word because he is not
using the term with it's exact definition, but it's teh best word for
what he's done. To leak information is to have it "become
publically known through a breach of secrecy". Since JB is
both the source and the subject of the info, it's not really a
"breach" like we think of when information is leaked to the
press in the political world. Say what you will about his
opinions, but JB is the leading authority on what JB is working
on.
That same post points out how the incorrect guesses are far
afield from information already given (it's a writing job, he's
using a pen-name, it's a DC title). This is pretty clear to me.
And I will freely admit to being dumb ass on this one if I'm
wrong, but this one is too intriguing to dismiss.
Do "you" "know" what I "mean"?

"Leaked," yeah, that's what I was referring to. And I think he put it in
quotes to show that he wasn't serious, that he was kidding. He "leaked"
the information because there was no information to leak.
I'm hoping, though, that I'm wrong, because it'd be really cool if he's been
writing something under a nom de plume for the past year or so and
none of us knew it.

Well, I read the first 5 issues of Harley Quinn, and it is a really
good story. Our problem, collectively, is that we need to define
what JB's writing style is or perhaps identify some of his
storytelling nuances.
one suggestion was that scene changes are initiated on the final panel of the previous page.
Also, JB likes to (or at least recently) to put critical future events
in the first couple pages, then cut to the past and tell the story, all
the while heading for the seminal crisis that the reader knows is
coming.
The story in the first 5 issues does use this broken time method, where
the first scene in the first issue is a set-up for the whole 5 issue
run.
Second, one of the issues (28p11,12) does use the mentioned scene cut:
Not very solid evidence but it was an enjoyable read. So I am definately going to keep reading these issues.
Great issues AJ.

ugh... this'll drive me nuts... being a JB completeist, and someone who buys precious little aside from JB stuff... means, if this is true, that there's a year's worth of JB stuff out there I'll never know about... bah...
How about... how about recomending a few titles to read - with the real one mixed in, and I'll buy them all, just to make sure I get it?

Todd: "one suggestion was that scene changes are initiated on
the final panel of the previous page."
******
Are they initiated with an image or with only a dialogue box -
like when dialogue from the upcoming scene plays over the
previous scene? That's definitely a JB device.
Re: "...put critical future events in the first couple pages, then
cut to the past and tell the story..." - I thought this trick was
unique to DOOM PATROL.
Very compelling, Todd. I can see this mystery is going to cost
me money becasue now I want to see those issues
(edited b/c I am having a hell fo time decribing dialogiue
boxes!!! help!)

Well, if we ever need to figure out a Claremont penname, just look for phrases like 'now I own you body and soul' or 'my psychic knife is the total focused effect of my telepathic powers' or....you get the idea.

Well, there's a thread about this over on the DC boards, so if JB is trying to have a little fun with the people over there, he's accomplished that.

here you go. Looks like the last panel is the outside of the office
where the next scene takes place. Dialog is present.
ps. I really like this story arc AJ.
