Apologies to Ken Landgraf for singling him out here. This is a mistake SO many artist make -- including your's truly.I was looking for a Wally Wood shot of Powergirl for another thread, and came upon this: What's wrong? Powergirl's blow is arcing downwards, but Wonder Woman is flying UP and back from the impact.

I follow what you're saying but for some reason, can't think of how WW should be reacting.
From the way the picture is set up, I imagine that WW came flying down from the top left. But when I do that, it makes the reaction seem to make sense.

I don't believe you make mistakes, you make artistic decisions....;-)
Unfortunately, I see this kind of action shot in comics way too often.

Like I said, this is a mistake I have made myself, more than once, tho a Google search turned up nothing (somewhat surprisingly!).

I was guilty of that myself. Until I you pointed that out JB. I believe it was in a thread discussing Gil Kane punches. I had a Homer moment "Doh!" realized I needed to be mindful. Hopefully I remember more than I forget.

I don't think Wood meant to convey PG's arm going down, but it going across.
I'm thinking he didn't want to draw the foreshortened striking arm going across her body, blocking her boobs and part of her face, so he cheated a little.
Just my two cents.

My first thought when I saw what JB was describing there was "Shouldn't Wonder Woman be bending down with the impact and falling towards the ground?" Unless Power Girl's fist rebounded downwards after connecting with WW's face in a right cross, perhaps?

James>>Apologies to Ken Landgraf, wherever you are!<<
Are you kidding? For whatever reason, someone mistook his art for Wally Wood. You probably made his whole month.

I've more of a problem with Power Girl apparently expending no effort to whack WW into the distance - as both legs are pointing in the same direction, with knees bent, she doesn't look well poised to deliver such a blow. Not sure what the cape is doing as well - perhaps there is a freak wind behind it somewhere
I'm surprised no-one has yet commented on the most .. outstanding .. parts of the composition. Even for Power Girl, that area seems fairly bounteous ...
