Seeing this commission brings back fond memories. JB's Iron Fist set the standard for the character. Other than Gammill,no one has drawn him as well. Power Man looks pretty good too!

Awesome! JB, I always loved your work on Iron Fist, (and Powerman and Iron Fist) and I thought it was so cool when you brought Danny Rand back in Namor. Those were great times. And this piece is a nice reminder of when comics were still fun to read and look at. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Bringing Iron Fist back in NAMOR was tremendously satisfying for me, personally. I broke one of my own rules doing it -- continuing a story from a canceled book in another title -- but I felt Danny merited a much better ending, if one was deemed necessary, than the one he got. And, of course, when rascally Roger Stern pointed out to me one day that "Tyrone King" was another way of saying "Master Khan". . .

You have to watch that rascal, he seems to be planting little seeds of deviousness and mischief in your mind John!

And, I'll warrant that a lot of what I've really enjoyed about my comic-book upbringing comes from exactly that vibrant relationship!
Thank-you both!

I would love to see some new Power Man and Iron Fist stories. It might even be fun to see them set in the 70s. --- Yeah...but done respectfully... --- It's a shame that we have to add that, but yes.
One thing I forgot to mention is how much I like the way the weight of the background elements is strong enough to complement (but not distract from) the focus of the drawing.

Some things that should never need to be spoken aloud HAVE to be spoken aloud, or they will be deliberately ignored. Kinda like the first time I quoted Stan Lee's line about "never give the fans what they THINK they want". An immediate response, here online, was "What if they THINK they want GOOD COMICS?" Seriously? You think that's what Stan meant? You think that actually has to be SAID? sigh

I absolutely LOVE this piece! Reminds me of that childhood love I had with comics and my first introduction to Iron Fist and JB. Iron Fist was a favorite character simply because JB's art seemed to be far and above anyone else's at that time.(You might disagree John, but to me it was). It's been a pleasure to have watched JB's evolution as a artist from my first glimpse of his Iron Fist work in Marvel Premiere #25 through the X-men through the FF and today, and I definitely see the improvement. Thanks for the art you post here.
