Received a royalty check from Marvel yesterday. For $0.98!!

I wonder what that cost them to process?

More to the point, have you decided what you'll spend it on yet?

I'm seriously thinking about framing it!

It's a good thing Marvel acted when they did to avoid the massive lawsuit.

Sorry to go a bit off topic here, but it's 2013. Why dont' they just Direct Deposit it?

Come to think, I still hear about people getting pay checks that they have to cash or deposit. Is that still a thing? I've been paid electronically for a decade.

I agree, particularly with the fact that JB is always having collections of his work released. I have a mental image of some guy like Milton from Office Space who's in charge of this sort of thing--lost and forgotten in some dark, dank office somewhere.

Cool! My last royalty check was bigger than John Byrne's!

I'm sure JB's IDW checks are much bigger than anything I get from writing, but I just got to type something I never thought I'd be able to say.

Don't spend it all in one place!

There used to be a great bar in Studio City called "Residuals"**.  The walls were lined with checks from famous actors, mostly from television, of residual checks that amounted to a dollar or less.  Really neat to see.

**The bar is still there.  It's still called "Residuals" but it's fallen on hard times.  Parsed in half (the other for another store) with a new owner, it's now a dive bar with no checks.

You can't even buy something at the Dollar Store for that check!

JB, you should be like Bruce Willis' character in the movie RED.  Keep calling Marvel to re-issue it after ripping the check in half.  I wonder how many times they'd re-issue it...?

I've heard that checks from a workplace cost approx. $2 to cut...so if that is true, you can do the math.

Personally, I like to think that JB is just .99 cents short of officially reaching some milestone, so this check went a long way to making that a reality! Now to get that stubborn final penny...
